  • Publication number: 20060114872
Abstract: A network system is provided which includes an Enterprise-mode authentication server on a host network, a wireless access point (AP) on a wired local network, and wireless terminals on a wireless local network. The AP obtains a result of user authentication performed by the Enterprise-mode authentication server by monitoring an authentication sequence between the Enterprise-mode authentication server and a wireless terminal that is performing association in a wireless section and obtains information indicating a relationship between a MAC address and an IP address with respect to the wireless terminal by monitoring an ARP table. The AP determines the connection mode of the wireless terminal on the basis of the obtained information and sets a service (e.g., filtering) according to the mode.

  • Patent number: 6980794
Abstract: A radio network transmits network information to a radio terminal when the position of the radio terminal is registered. If the network information has changed when the radio terminal places an outgoing call or receives an incoming call, the radio network transmits network information after the change. The network information includes information identifying a network used to make a connection to another network, and information relating to communication charges. The radio terminal calculates communication charges using the network information.

  • Publication number: 20050208926
Abstract: A wireless access point having a simple configuration provides a network service in accordance with a user level without placing a heavy burden on a user of a client station. The wireless access point controls connections among networks composed of a local network and a backbone network. The local network includes a wireless local network using a wireless communication medium. When establishing a communication association with a wireless station in the wireless local network, the wireless access point monitors a message in a user authentication sequence between the wireless station and an authentication server on a local network so as to acquire the authentication result and predetermined information associated with a login user, and determines a level of the login user. The wireless access point then sets up its own filtering function based on the determination.

  • Publication number: 20040166897
Abstract: There is provided a wireless base station that can ensure the mutual independence of wireless communication networks with overlapping communication cells. When a multifunction access point that is a present base station is to be newly activated inside a wireless communication cell controlled by another active multifunction access point in the periphery thereof, the wireless LAN unit of the multifunction access point carries out passive scan to receive beacons including an SSID from the other multifunction access point, and acquires the SSID included in the beacons. The wireless LAN unit automatically generates, using a predetermined generation algorithm, an SSID to be used in a wireless communication cell controlled by the present base station so that the generated SSID differs to a previously generated SSID. When the generated SSID is not identical with the acquired SSID, the generated SSID is set as the SSID of the wireless communication cell controlled by the present base station.

  • Patent number: 6519476
Abstract: In a radio communication system, when an interconnection between radio terminal (PS) used for digital cordless telephones is performed, a connection destination terminal is discriminated in accordance with input information. If it s determined that the connection designation terminal is a terminal involved in the interconnection, a priority-monitor-target communication channel is figured out in accordance with a PS call number of the destination. When the priority-monitor-target communication channel is not used, transmission of call-origination control signal is started by using the idle priority-monitor-target communication channel. That is, the call-original control signal is transmitted by preferentially using the priority-monitor-target communication channel which is frequently monitored by the destination terminal.
