The secondary battery includes a protective member that is placed between the exterior body and the electrode body, and regulates shrinkage deformation of the exterior body toward a center in a width direction. The second battery further includes a movement regulating means for regulating movement of the protective member. This can prevent reduction of battery performances in manufacturing steps.

Accordingly, welding between the electrode terminals 12 and 14 and the busbar 30 can be performed in an appropriate manner.
