  • Patent number: 7813859
Abstract: When a vehicle stops, a brake control unit maintains a braking force applied on a wheel by a braking-force application unit for maintaining a halted state. In this state, if a driver depresses the accelerator pedal to execute starting of the vehicle, the braking force is gradually decreased, and the vehicle starts at a speed that accords with a degree of accelerator opening and a gradient of a road on which the vehicle is stopped. When a movement direction at this time is the same as a movement direction intended by the driver, the braking force is decreased to zero for smooth starting. When the movement direction is opposite to the intended movement direction, the braking force is increased to control the movement in the opposite direction, such that the movement changes from the opposite direction to the same direction, and finally, smooth starting in the desired direction is executed.

  • Patent number: 7690339
Abstract: A variable valve timing and lift mechanism includes an actuator that adjusts the period in which an intake valve is held open by moving a drive element. When a control unit switches the duration, the control unit controls the actuator so that the duration is changed at a first speed when the duration is equal to a first value, and at a second speed when the duration is equal to a second value that is smaller than the first value. The absolute value of the second speed is smaller than the absolute value of the first speed. In effect, the actuator is controlled so that when the duration is in a short-duration range, the duration changes more slowly than when the duration is in a long-duration range.

  • Patent number: 7561954
Abstract: A creep drive control device according to the invention sets a target creep vehicle speed when a driver has neither one of an acceleration intention or a stop maintenance intention. An engine output is increased (or decreased) by a vehicle speed increase processing (or a vehicle speed decrease processing), or a braking force is decreased (or increased), and an actual vehicle speed is controlled so as to be equal to the target creep vehicle speed or a value in the proximity thereof. The target creep vehicle speed, and respective engine output and braking force increase amounts and decrease amounts are corrected and set in accordance with driving conditions, road surface conditions and driver operations.

  • Patent number: 7503436
Abstract: In a disc brake control system for a vehicle, a control unit determines that a brake disc is in a condition of a thermal inclination of brake disc, and further determines that the brake disc is restored from the thermal inclination. The control unit operates an actuator of a disc brake devices to push a brake pad to the brake disc, when it determines that the brake disc is restored from the thermal inclination. According to such operation, the brake pad is moved to its normal position to the brake disc, so that a brake drag of the brake pad to the brake disc is suppressed.

  • Publication number: 20040017106
Abstract: A brake control ECU of an automatic braking apparatus calculates an awareness level in accordance with: whether or not there are a braking pedal or accelerator pedal operations; whether or not there are shift and steering wheel operations; and whether a level of a driver's eye movement lowers. When the brake control ECU determines that the awareness level has decreased, it controls the hydraulic braking apparatus so as to increase a provision braking force applied for a certain period and with a certain cycle to each wheel 4FR, 4FL, 4RR, 4RL. Accordingly, vibration caused by increase and decrease of the braking force is generated in a body of a vehicle that is running. This vibration arouses the driver whose level of consciousness has decreased.

  • Patent number: 5295738
Abstract: An anti-skid control system for use in a motor vehicle which controls a braking pressure for a wheel of the motor vehicle to keep a slip of the wheel to an appropriate state by alternately performing a pressure-increasing operation and a pressure-maintaining operation in accordance with a slipping state of the wheel. The system first detects a slipping state of the wheel before performing the pressure-increasing operation on the basis of a vehicle speed and a wheel speed and then detects a slipping state of the wheel when a predetermined time period is elapsed from the pressure-increasing operation in a state that the braking pressure is maintained after the completion of the pressure-increasing operation so as to calculate a variation of the slipping state of the wheel on the basis of the detection results.

  • Patent number: 4805104
Abstract: A wheel slipping control apparatus for controlling a braking hydraulic pressure to be applied to a wheel so as to perform an effective braking operation. The wheel slipping control apparatus comprises a control unit for generating a control signal in accordance with the wheel slipping state so as to perform a braking pressure control cycle so that the braking hydraulic pressure is set to a pressure decreasing mode and then to a pressure increasing mode. In the control unit, one of the braking pressure control cycles to be performed is determined as a learning control cycle to obtain a learning pressure-decreased value decremented in the learning control cycle and to obtain a learning pressure-increased value incremented in the learning control cycle.
