  • Publication number: 20140036240
Abstract: A polarity-reversal control circuit gives a polarity-reversal order so that the polarity of an inverter is inverted each time the polarity-reversal timing notified by a signal is recognized. The number of times of consecutive appearances of a normal polarity-reversal interval period, in which an interval of adjoining polarity-reversal timings is equal to or less than an upper limit of a polarity-reversal interval desirable for a discharge lamp, is counted, and if the unusual polarity-reversal interval period, in which an interval of the adjoining polarity-reversal timing is longer than the upper limit of a polarity-reversal interval, appears, Npm is memorized as the maximum of the number of times of consecutive appearances and after that, when the polarity-reversals signal in which the number of times of consecutive appearances becomes equal to Npm is received, it is regarded as a start of an unusual polarity-reversal interval period, and additional polarity-reversal order is given.

  • Patent number: 8466630
Abstract: A discharge lamp lighting apparatus includes a capacitor, a charge circuit for charging the capacitor, a switching element, a gate driving circuit that controls ON and OFF states of the switching element, a simmer current supply circuit for passing simmer current through a discharge lamp, a starting circuit that impresses high voltage to a starting electrode, and an electric discharge sequence control circuit that generates the gate signal and the starting signal. When lighting the discharge lamp, a sequence of the gate signal corresponding to an alternating repetition of the ON and OFF states of the switching element is generated. Before outputting the starting signal, the switching element is ON as a stand-by state. Then the sequence starts when the starting signal is outputted.

  • Patent number: 8030618
Abstract: A pellet 4 for use in spectrometry includes a first powder 41 of a light transmitting material in a compression-molded form, and a second powder 42 which is hydrophilic and water-insoluble and is dispersedly mixed in the first powder. A sample 40 to be subjected to spectrometry is e.g. in a powdery form and dispersedly mixed in the first and the second powders 41 and 42. When the sample 40 is a hydrate, the second powder 42 exerts the effect of accelerating dehydration of the sample 40, so that stable spectrum data on the sample in the dehydrated state is obtained early. This makes it possible to perform a processing such as identification of the sample 40 early and precisely.
