    Abstract: A portable electronic device having a power supply unit and an IC chip that conducts wireless communication with a reader/writer and operates when power is supplied from the power supply unit includes a first determining unit that determines whether or not the portable electronic device, in a state in which the IC chip is operating moved, according to a result of detection by a sensor to detect movement, a second determining unit that determines whether or not a signal from an opposing device equipped with the reader/writer was received, and a power control unit that conducts control to allow a state in which power is supplied to the IC chip from the power supply unit when the first determining unit determines that the portable electronic device did not move and the second determining unit determines that the signal was received.
