  • Patent number: 6734070
Abstract: A field-effect transistor is fabricated by depositing and patterning a layer of a semiconductor material and a first dielectric film to form a gate electrode covered by the remaining part of the first dielectric film, depositing a second dielectric film to form sidewalls on the gate electrode and first dielectric film, implanting a first impurity into the substrate to form source and drain regions, forming a third dielectric film masking at least the inner parts of the source and drain regions while exposing the first dielectric film, removing the first dielectric film by etching, and implanting a second impurity into the gate electrode. The first and second impurities may be, for example, boron difluoride and boron, respectively. The implantation parameters can be adjusted to form shallow source and drain regions and form a fully doped gate electrode.

  • Publication number: 20040072417
Abstract: A semiconductor element has an upper wiring layer and a lower wiring layer. These layers communicate with each other via a via-hole. The via-hole is filled with W. Before W is filled in the via-hole by a CVD process to connect the lower wiring layer to the upper wiring layer, a cleaning gas is supplied into the via-hole to remove particular substances, which would otherwise result in high resistance. Subsequent to the cleaning step, the W portion is formed in the via-hole. Since the high resistance substances are removed from the via-hole before the formation of the W portion, the semiconductor element (or the via-hole) has a low resistance and high reliability.

  • Patent number: 6709159
Abstract: A bearing structure comprises a rotational shaft and a bearing member. The rotational shaft has a pair of flanges, and a small diameter portion provided between the flanges. The flanges have first tapered surfaces. The first tapered surfaces taper down to the diameter of the small diameter portion as the first tapered surfaces approach the small diameter portion. The bearing member has a support groove to support the small diameter portion, and second tapered surfaces formed between the support groove and restraining surfaces connected by the support groove. The small diameter portion is fit in the support groove while the first tapered surfaces are engaged with the second tapered surfaces. A flank is formed on at least one part of the flanges that face each other and at substantially the same circumferential position on the flanges, to form a gap with one of the second tapered surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20040036229
Abstract: A cap has a plug portion, a seal plug and a sleeve. At the plug portion a side and a cylindrical wall project from a top board. An inner circumferential surface of the side wall fits on an outer circumferential surface of an opening portion of a vessel and covers the opening portion with the top board. The cylindrical wall forms a receiving chamber having an opening mouth at its under end face. The seal plug seals the opening mouth. The sleeve is loosely fitted on the cylindrical wall and opens the opening mouth by separating the seal plug from the cylindrical wall at relative movement of the cap. A sepal portion on the outer circumference of the sleeve is larger than inner diameter of the opening portion at its outer diameter and has flexibility to pass the inner diameter bending so as to avoid backward moving.

  • Patent number: 6636708
Abstract: An LCD section of a control panel displays an AUTO key and a manual key for adjusting the density of an image, and an AUTO key and a manual key (TRANSFER INTENSITY) for directly varying transfer biases. When the AUTO of the TRANSFER INTENSITY has been depressed, a printer CPU causes a transfer bias control section to perform a control to set the transfer biases from DC power supplies associated with respective colors at normal conditions in accordance with a print ratio or average reflectance of an original. When the manual key of the TRANSFER INTENSITY is set to the right side, the printer CPU increases stepwise the transfer biases in accordance with the setting. When the manual key is set to the left side, the printer CPU decreases stepwise the transfer biases in accordance with the setting.

  • Patent number: 6600894
Abstract: A convey belt is charged only while a sheet is placed and chucked on it. A transfer member for applying a transfer bias is grounded while a transfer bias is not applied, and an electric field is formed on the transfer member side, so that discharge from the surface of the convey belt to the photosensitive body side is suppressed. While transfer is not performed, a bias lower than the bias applied during transfer is applied to the transfer member, so the potential of the transfer member becomes lower than the surface potential of the convey belt. The polarity of the charges applied to charge the convey belt is set to be equal to that of charges applied to charge the photosensitive body. While chucking a sheet, the surface of the convey belt is charged. During the remaining period, an AC bias is applied to the convey belt in order to remove charges from the surface of the convey belt. With any one of the above arrangements, high quality image formation is enabled.
