  • Patent number: 5146447
Abstract: An optomagnetic disk apparatus includes a holder for holding a cartridge which stores an optomagnetic disk therein and which is moved while a cartridge having an openable shutter is held therein. Shutter openers for opening/closing the shutter are movably arranged on the holder. A wire is looped between the shutter openers. Ends of the wire are fixed to the frame. When the holder is moved, the wire is pulled, and the shutter openers are selectively moved to open/close the shutter. The optomagnetic disk apparatus also includes a magnet unit for applying an external magnetic field to the optomagnetic disk when information is erased from or written in the optomagnetic disk. The magnet unit has a flat sectional shape and is rotatable.

  • Patent number: 5009527
Abstract: A thermal transfer color printer for printing color images on individual sheets of paper. One sheet of paper at a time is removed from a stack of paper stored in a cassette and this sheet is transported by a reversible platen roller in a first or forward direction at a first predetermined rate. While the sheet of paper is gripped between the reversible platen roller and one or more pinch rollers, slack is removed by a slack removing device. A multicolored ink ribbon with successively arranged color segments also is transported in the first direction at the same predetermined rate. A thermal printhead presses against the reversible platen roller to press the ink ribbon and sheet of paper together as they move in the first direction. Energization of the thermal elements on the thermal printhead by color component signals corresponding to the current color of the ink ribbon causes the particular current color to be thermally and selectively transferred to the sheet of paper.

  • Patent number: 4590486
Abstract: A thermal ink transfer printing apparatus comprising a carriage moved along the rotating shaft of a platen roller, and a thermal head provided with a row of heating elements. A fixture which is urged backward by a spring is rotatably attached to the carriage and to the front side of which is attached the thermal head. A solenoid is fixed on the carriage with its core rod contacted with the backside of the fixture. An ink ribbon fed from an ink ribbon feeding reel and wound around an ink ribbon reel after passing through the thermal head. The ink ribbon feeding and winding reels are arranged on the carriage. When current is applied to the solenoid, the thermal head is pressed against the platen roller to closely contact the ink ribbon with a recording sheet on the circumference of the platen roller, while when current supply is stopped to the solenoid, the thermal head is retreated to peel off the ink ribbon from the recording sheet.

  • Patent number: 4532524
Abstract: In a thermal ink-transfer printing apparatus, a recording sheet to which a picture is to be transferred and an ink film having an ink layer are passed between a thermal head and a platen roller so that ink of the ink film is transferred to the recording sheet in accordance with a picture pattern. The thermal head is provided with heating resistors which are arranged in a line and which selectively generate heat in response to picture signals. Thus, the ink of the ink film is selectively heated and softened or melted to be transferred to the recording sheet. The ink film and the recording sheet pass through a gap between the platen roller and the thermal head in such a manner that the ink layer of the ink film is in contact with the recording sheet. In the ink transfer, the platen roller can rotate while pressing the ink film and the recording sheet on the heating resistor array of the thermal head.

  • Patent number: 4505603
Abstract: According to the invention, a printer includes an elongated thermal printhead and a carrier drive means for transporting a multi-color ink carrier in a first direction and a medium drive means for transporting a record medium, in the same direction and rate, contiguously over the head. The printhead has a row of thermal elements, each of which may be energized to transfer a particular color ink onto the medium as the carrier sheet moves over the head. Various transferable color inks form areas which are arranged in equal color lengths along the length of the carrier sheet. Each respective color area extends transversely along the width of the sheet and are alternately and successively arranged along the length of the carrier sheet. The printhead is selectively forced into contact with the carrier sheet and record medium as they advance at the same rate by means of the carrier and record drive means.

  • Patent number: 4141018
Abstract: A recording apparatus includes a recording head and a drive circuit for driving the recording head. The recording head includes a plurality of main blocks arranged successively in a given direction and a plurality of first and second conductors. The main blocks each include first and second unit recording blocks arranged in the given direction. Each unit recording block includes n recording units arranged in the given direction. One ends of the n recording units are collectively connected to the selection terminal of each unit recording block. The first conductors each connect the other end of the ith (n.gtoreq.i.gtoreq.1) of the first recording block with the other end of the (n+1-i)th recording unit of the second unit recording block. The second conductors connect the corresponding first conductors in the respective main blocks and bears thereon signals to be recorded.
