  • Patent number: 6694588
Abstract: A method of renovating and recycling a vehicle, comprises the steps of: (a) designing the vehicle, wherein the step of designing comprises the steps of: (a-1) determining a way of treatment, such as melting, crushing or renovating, for mach part of the vehicle; and (a-2) designing each part of the vehicle so as to form an easily disassemblable structure; (b) manufacturing the vehicle according to the design made in the step (a); (c) selling the vehicle with a limited usable period; (d) having the sold vehicle returned after the limited usable period has lapsed; (e) separating parts of the returned vehicle into those to be reused and those to be replaced with new parts; and (f) separating the to-be-replaced parts into those to be renovated or those to be processed into materials. In this ways since the way of treatment for each part of the vehicle is predetermined at the design stage, it is ensured that all the parts can be properly recycled, to thereby substantially eliminate the discarded waste.

  • Patent number: 6678936
Abstract: A coating method according to the present invention includes a step of producing plural exterior members which constitute the outside portion of a vehicle body, and a step of forming and joining plural inside members which constitute the inside portion of the vehicle body, thereby producing a chassis. Each of the exterior members is a precoat metal sheet in which a rust-preventing layer and a coat which contains a lubricating component are formed on a surface of a metal sheet. Accordingly, the exterior members joined to the chassis need only intermediate coating and overcoating. The chassis constituent members are made of a precoat metal sheet in which a rust-preventing layer which contains a lubricating component is formed on a surface of a metal sheet. Accordingly, it is not necessary to carry out electrodeposition coating which is considered to be necessary for the chassis.

  • Patent number: 6490819
Abstract: A decorative sheet including a pattern with a third-dimensional appearance is provided. The decorative sheet has a reflective layer for reflecting incident light. On the reflective layer, a transparent layer is formed. On the transparent layer, a light shielding layer for shielding incident light is formed. A pattern layer is interposed between the light shielding layer and the reflective layer in such a manner, for example, that it is included in the rear surface of the light shielding layer or in the transparent layer. The light shielding layer is provided with a plurality of through holes for passing incident light toward the reflective layer and emission light which leads out a pattern image reflected in the reflective layer.

  • Patent number: 5227113
Abstract: A process for the high speed production of fiber reinforced plastic moldings forms several preforms which are solidified with chopped fibers, resin powders and a binder and are held between two preheating plates. Each plate is formed of a thin metal plate and will preheat the preforms to a temperature higher than the melting point of the resin. While the preforms are held between the preheating plates, the preforms are cold-pressed in a mold maintained at a temperature lower than the melting point of the resin for simultaneous impregnation and cooling of the resin. In addition, a preforming mold is placed in a vacuum chamber and precut chopped fibers are positioned in a tank. The preforming mold is placed into the tank and an exhauster is actuated to vacuumize both the vacuum chamber and the preforming mold, thereby adsorbing the chopped fibers in the tank onto the preforming mold and forming on the surface of the preforming mold an unsolidified preform comprising the chopped fibers.

  • Patent number: 4903984
Abstract: A suspension device in a motor vehicle has at least one component separate from a damper and to which vertical movement of a road wheel can be transmitted. The component comprises a resilient member supported on a vehicle body at a portion spaced from another portion operatively coupled to the road wheel, for giving vertical resiliency to the road wheel. The suspension device also has a counteracting load mechanism for applying a counteracting load which is variable dependent on an amount of flexing of a section of the component caused by vertical movement of the road wheel. The suspension device further includes a vehicle height adjusting mechanism operatively coupled to the counteracting load means for varying a static counteracting load of the counteracting load mechanism when the motor vehicle is at rest, to thereby vertically displace the section of the component for adjusting the height of the motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4664644
Abstract: A fiber reinforced plastic drive shaft comprising a pair of metal joint members, an inner plastic layer extending over the entire length of the drive shaft and holding the metal joint members in both end portions thereof, and an outer plastic layer formed on the inner layer. The inner layer comprises continuous carbon fibers helically wound at 45-75 degrees to the axis of the drive shaft, while the outer layer comprises continuous fibers such as carbon fibers, glass fibers, polyester fibers and aramide fibers helically wound at 5-40 degrees to the axis of the drive shaft. The drive shaft has a greatly increased torsional strength and damping effect. The maximum damping effect is provided when the outer layer is formed only over the joint members.
