  • Patent number: 6479616
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a modified polycarbonate resin, characterized in that melting and kneading are used to react an anthracene compound and a polycarbonate resin. The modified polycarbonate resin contains structural units that are attached to the main chain of the modified polycarbonate resin. The structural units are expressed by formula [I-1] or [I-2] as follows: wherein Y is a C1-C20 bivalent hydrocarbon group; R is a C1-C20 hydrocarbon; Ra is a hydrogen atom or a C1-C20 hydrocarbon; n is an integer from 0 to 4; X which may be the same or different, is a C1-C20 hydrocarbon group or a halogen atom; X2, which may be the same or different, is a hydrogen atom, a C1-C20 hydrocarbon group, or a halogen atom; and a plurality of X1s and X2s may combine together to form a ring structure.

  • Patent number: 5286813
Abstract: The present invention discloses a polycarbonate modification method wherein a polycarbonate resin having (a) a carbon-carbon double bond, and (b) at least one group selected from the group consisting of --C(.dbd.O)--Cl, --C(.dbd.O)--Br, --C(.dbd.O)--OH, --OH, --O--C(.dbd.O)--Cl and --O--C(.dbd.O)--Br, is melt-kneaded in the presence of a radical initiator. Polycarbonate resins prepared according to the present method retain the desirable properties associated with polycarbonates while exhibiting decreased surface gloss.
