    Abstract: A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. An insulating layer is provided between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The insulating layer contains at least one type of hydrogen carbonate selected from a sodium hydrogen carbonate and a potassium hydrogen carbonate. The hydrogen carbonate has an average particle size of 2 to 20 ?m. A content of the hydrogen carbonate is 5 to 80 vol % of the total volume of the insulating layer. The insulating layer has a thickness of 4 to 40 ?m.
