  • Publication number: 20070214768
Abstract: A filter for a gas generator in which the manufacture is simple, which has an adequate filter performance and cooling performance and, furthermore, which has high reliability with little damage caused in actuation of the gas generator, is provided. The filter for an air bag gas generator comprises a first layer formed from helically wound wire rods having a cross-sectional area of 0.03 to 0.8 mm2, in such a way that the pitch angle of wire rods vertically superposed in the radial direction is symmetrical, and a second layer that exists on the outer side of the first layer in the radial direction and is formed to have a finer filter particle size than the first layer using a wire rod narrower than the wire rod that forms the first layer.

  • Publication number: 20050206144
Abstract: A gas generator for an airbag producing no malfunction is provided. When the first combustion gas generated in the first combustion chamber 30 enters the filter chamber 50, most of the gas is discharged through the gas discharge port 52, however, part of the combustion gas flows into the second through hole 62. This combustion gas flows through the vent hole 76 into the second combustion chamber 40 after changes its flow direction by the gas-flow inhibiting member 80 inside the second cap member 75. At this time, the temperature of the gas is lowered, so that the second gas generating agent 43 is never burnt.

  • Publication number: 20050161923
Abstract: The present invention provides a gas generator, relating to a gas generator for a side air bag or the like, in which the gas purification and cooling efficiency in a filter can be enhanced, the filter is not an obstacle in the release of the gas and the structure is simple. A gas generator for an airbag, in which an inner cylindrical member is stored in a housing, wherein the inner cylindrical member has a second outside diameter portion abutting against the inner peripheral surface of the housing, and a first outside diameter portion that is smaller in outside diameter than the second outside diameter portion, the tip end of the first outside diameter portion side abuts against the closed end portion (one end portion) of the housing, the filter is provided on the outside of the inner cylindrical member in the radial direction of the first outside diameter portion, and the ignition means is provided on the opposite end portion (the other end) from the closed end portion of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20040155444
Abstract: The present invention provides a gas generator for an air bag capable of easily adjusting a volume ratio of two combustion chambers while reducing the gas generator in size. A diameter of an inner cylinder 15 disposed in a housing 11 is increased and reduced depending upon its vertical position. Thus, the volume ratio of the first combustion chamber 20 and the second combustion chamber 25 can be changed without changing the height of the housing 11 itself.
