    Abstract: A vehicle body speed calculation device includes a wheel speed derivation mechanism deriving wheel speeds based on detection signals from wheel speed sensors which detect the speeds of wheels of a vehicle; a rotational speed derivation mechanism deriving a rotational speed based on a detection signal from a rotational speed detection sensor which detects the rotational speed of an energy conversion device, the energy conversion device being connected to the wheels and being capable of mutual conversion between electric energy and rotational energy; and a body speed calculation mechanism calculating a body speed by using the rotational speed of the energy conversion device derived by the rotational speed derivation mechanism when the vehicle is travelling in a predetermined low speed range but for calculating the body speed by using the wheel speeds derived by the wheel speed derivation mechanism when the vehicle is travelling in a predetermined high speed range.
