  • Publication number: 20200081378
Abstract: An image heating apparatus includes first and second heat generating elements arranged adjacent to each other, and a control portion that controls power supplied to the first and second heat generating elements, and that is capable of individually controlling the first and second heat generating elements, the first and second heat generating elements being respectively controlled so as to maintain a control temperature. When an image exists in a second region on the recording material heated by the second heat generating element, and an image does not exist in a first region on the recording material heated by the first heat generating element, the control portion sets the control temperature of the second heat generating element, when heating the second region, in accordance with a distance between an end section of the image in the second region and a boundary of the first region and the second region.

  • Publication number: 20200050135
Abstract: An image heating apparatus includes a heater including a first heat generating block and a second heat generating block, and a power control portion that controls electrical power to be supplied to the respective heat generating blocks. When a recording material passes the position of the heater, and, in a longitudinal direction of the heater, when an entire range in which the second heat generating block is provided is a range in which the recording material passes and only a portion of a range in which the first heat generating block is provided is a range in which the recording material passes, the power control portion controls the electrical power to be supplied to the respective heat generating blocks so that electrical power Wd supplied to the first heat generating block is less than electrical power Wc supplied to the second heat generating block.

  • Patent number: 10534296
Abstract: An image heating apparatus includes a first and second heat generating elements, a thyristor that controls electrical power supplied to the heat generating elements, and a relay that switches a supply destination of the electrical power supply between the heat generating elements. A controller switches the thyristor from on to off, and then actuates the relay to switch the supply destination from the first heat generating element to the second heat generating element, and, thereafter switches the thyristor from off to on. The controller sets a timing of switching of the thyristor from on to off to be in a period in which an image on a current recording material is in a nip, and sets timing of switching of the thyristor from off to on to be in a period in which an image on a current recording material or a subsequent recording material is not in the nip.

  • Publication number: 20190171136
Abstract: An image heating apparatus includes a nip forming unit; a first and second heat generating elements for heating said nip; a thyristor for controlling electric power to the heat generating elements; a relay for switching an electric power supply destination between the first and second heat generating elements; and a controller. When the controller switches the destination from the first heat generating element to the second heat generating element during heating the images on continuously supplied sheets, the controller switches the thyristor from on-state to off-state, and then actuates the relay to switch the supply destination from the first heat generating element to the second heat generating element, and thereafter switches the thyristor from the off-state to the on-state. The controller sets timing of a period for switching the supply destination such that the image on the sheet is not influenced by a temperature drop in the period.

  • Patent number: 10114318
Abstract: An image heating apparatus heats an image formed on a recording material and includes a heater having a first heat generating block and a second heat generating block adjacent to the first. A power control portion controls electrical power supplied to the first and second blocks, independently. When an entire range in which the second block is provided is a range in which the recording material passes and only a portion of a range in which the first block is provided, electrical power supplied to the first is less than that supplied to the second. The power control portion controls the power so that a ratio of the power supplied to the first block to the power supplied to the second block decreases as a recording material passing range, in the range in which the first block is provided, decreases.
