  • Patent number: 8052910
Abstract: There is provided a continuous molding method capable of varying a thickness of a prepreg molded article. A molding material 10 is prepared such that three plies, for example, of prepreg 31, 32, 33 are laminated with different end face positions on each face of a prepreg laminate 20 of a carbon fibre or the like, and prepreg peel plies 41, 42, 43 are arranged continuously to the respective plies of the prepreg 31, 32, 33. This molding material 10 is transformed into a sheet and continuously sent out to a hot press for molding, which is then heated in a post-curing oven for a prescribed period of time for thermosetting. After the molding, the prepreg peel ply 40 is peeled and removed so that a product whose sectional thickness varies can be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20090243151
Abstract: The invention provides a method for continuously preforming a prepreg material impregnated with thermosetting resin in an uncured state. A sheet of prepreg material is drawn out from a roller, laminated, and bent into a given cross-sectional shape via a bending device. The prepreg material is then continuously formed via a mold having a heater into a long product. The heat and pressure applied to the prepreg material in the mold is selected from a heating temperature that does not completely cure the thermosetting resin and a pressure range enabling the prepreg material to maintain the formed state. The above-mentioned preforming method enables to form members having a loose curvature (for example, a radius of 7 m or smaller) or stringers having a continuously varied curvature.

  • Publication number: 20090239018
Abstract: The invention provides a prepreg peel ply to be laminated on a surface of a composite material prepreg for forming a member having a concaved portion such as an H-shaped member, wherein the prepreg peel ply is peeled off after performing hardening so as to improve the adhesiveness of the surface of the composite material. A prepreg peel ply impregnated with resin having a hardening property substantially equivalent to that of the composite material prepreg is used as the peel ply to be laminated on a surface of the composite material prepreg. Through use of such prepreg peel ply, it becomes possible to apply a continuously formed prepreg material to form members having concaved portions, such as H-shaped members, and to form excellent members without voids.

  • Publication number: 20080053599
Abstract: The invention provides a method for preforming a prepreg material impregnated with thermosetting resin continuously in an uncured state. Sheets of prepreg material are pulled out from rollers and laminated, which is then bent to a predetermined cross-sectional shape in a bending device. The prepreg material is formed into a long product continuously in a mold having a heater. The temperature and pressure applied to the prepreg material in the mold is selected so that the heating temperature is either room temperature or a heating temperature low enough to prevent the thermosetting resin from gelating, and so that the pressure is within a pressure range enabling the prepreg material to maintain its molded state.

  • Patent number: 6431002
Abstract: A tank 10 has an opening through which enters a molded material P1, which is the object of inspection, and water W1 is filled within the tank 10. One side wall of said tank 10 is equipped with the plurality of ultrasonic search units 40. On the other side wall of said tank 10 is mounted a reflector plate 100 opposing to said ultrasonic search units 40. The reflection surface 100a of said reflector plate 100 is positioned away from the surface of an object portion P10 by a predetermined distance D1. The ultrasonic waves generated from the search units are reflected, and the reflected waves are transduced into electric signals, and the signals are compared with the signals received from the solid portion, so as to detect flaw.
