  • Publication number: 20030168043
Abstract: An engine electronic control unit is inserted through a through hole provided in an intake pipe and mounted in an intake air passage in a direction substantially perpendicularly with respect to a plane of the intake pipe forming the intake air passage. This unit is then secured to the intake pipe using a fixing flange provided at a connector portion. A fixing rail is protruded inside the intake pipe and leading edges of a metal base and a metal cover of the unit are inserted into this rail, thereby securing in position an end opposite to a side of the connector portion of the unit. This realizes an engine electronic control unit offering an outstanding heat radiation performance and vibration resistance, without having to provide special heat radiating parts or without involving an increase in an intake air resistance within the intake air passage. By using such an engine electronic control unit, it is possible to provide a low-cost, compact engine air intake system.

  • Publication number: 20030070494
Abstract: An air flow meter which can decrease the error due to the backflow. Throttle valve 17 which opens and shuts the air intake passage is installed in the air intake passage of the internal combustion engine. The first sensor part 161 is installed in the air intake passage in the upstream of throttle valve 17. Further, the second sensor part 141 is installed in the air intake passage in the downstream of throttle valve 17. Pulsation compensating means 671 corrects the pulsation of the air flow rate signal detected by the first sensor part by using the output signals of the first and the second sensor parts 161, 141 based on each cylinder of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6502549
Abstract: A combustion control device for an internal combustion engine, establishes an optimum combustion condition by detecting the combustion pressure in the cylinder and controlling the exhaust gas reflux rate, the ignition timing and the fuel injection timing or the injection rate at the intake stroke in order to improve the fuel economy and the quality of the exhaust gas in the engine. The device is provided with an in-cylinder pressure detector for detecting the in-cylinder pressure in connection with the combustion in the engine, and apparatus for estimating the heat generation rate with respect to the angle of the crank shaft of the cylinder according to the output from the in-cylinder pressure detection means, the ignition timing and the fuel injection timing control the control variables such as EGR control parameters related to the combustion so that the in-cylinder combustion state pattern obtained by the heat generation rate estimation apparatus may be reshaped into a predefined waveform pattern.

  • Patent number: 5947086
Abstract: It is an object to improve the opening control resolving power in the case where the opening/closing of a throttle valve is controlled by a motor driven actuator. An additional control signal for finely vibrating the throttle valve is given to the actuator in a specific period until the opening of the throttle valve approaches its target value. Consequently, the throttle valve vibrates finely only as occasion demands. Accordingly, in spite of the fact that the opening of the throttle valve can be controlled with finer control resolving power than ordinary control resolving power, good response can be obtained as a whole.
