Abstract: A facsimile device downloads data from a web server if a URL of the web server is not listed in an access prohibited database. If it is determined that the downloaded data is of the type for which image formation is prohibited, then a printing function is set to OFF. If the printing function is ON, then a display unit displays an outline of the downloaded data, enabling a user to determine whether or not the downloaded data should be printing out. If the user input a print instruction, then the downloaded data is printed out. On the other hand, if the user input a cancel instruction, then the downloaded data is not printed out.

Abstract: A facsimile device includes an outer case accommodating a circuit controller and a communication module. The communication module has a router function and can be directly connected to a broadband-capable modem, such as an ADSL modem, by a cable. The communication module can perform bi-directional communications with a web server on the Internet via the broadband-capable modem. The communication module also has a web printing function for printing images of data received from a web server on a recording unit. Hence, by connecting a broadband-capable modem to the communication module, the facsimile device can print data from web servers onto paper to facilitate viewing.

Abstract: An image forming device capable of reducing transfer errors of paper even when the transfer amount of paper cannot be detected accurately. The image forming device is provided with a motion sensor, and calculates the transfer amount of paper using signals output by the motion sensor. It is determined whether or not the transfer amount is within a predetermined normal range. If it is determined that the transfer amount is within the normal range, a paper transfer amount control value is set to the calculated transfer amount, while if it is determined that the transfer amount is outside the range, the paper transfer amount control value is set to a preliminarily set standard transfer amount. The image forming device controls the transfer of paper based on the above paper transfer amount control value.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling deceleration of a DC motor which is driven in a forward operating direction with a forward-drive electric current applied thereto by a forward driving device, wherein the forward motor driving device applies the forward-drive electric current in the form of pulses to the DC motor during its deceleration, and wherein a plugging-braking device operable while the motor is subjected to a regenerative brake or operated in a non-braked state is operated to apply a reverse-drive electric current in the form of pulses to the motor, to apply a plugging brake to the motor, such that at least one pulse of the reverse-drive electric current follows every predetermined number of pulses of the forward-drive electric current.

Abstract: An image forming device that is capable of performing transfer of paper constantly in a highly accurate manner, irrespective of types or conditions of paper. The image forming device is provided with a motion sensor in a paper transfer path thereof for detecting the surface condition of an idle roller moving in accordance with the paper, and transfer of the paper is controlled on the basis of surface condition signals generated by the motion sensor. The motion sensor makes laser light, which is irradiated by a semiconductor laser, hit on an outer peripheral surface of the idle roller that rotates accompanying the transfer of paper and the reflected light is received by a two-dimensional semiconductor image sensor. Then, the surface condition signals are detected on the basis of speckle patterns generated in the reflected light.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for controlling a moving speed of a moving body, wherein at least one transient target speed value in addition to a final target speed value is used to control the moving speed in an accelerating period between a moment of initiation of a movement of the moving body and a moment at which the moving speed should coincide with the final target speed value. The transient target speed is updated at a predetermined timing, or changed to the final target speed value, or from one transient value to another transient value before it is changed to the final target speed value, so that the moving speed is smoothly increased to the final target speed value, without an overshoot beyond the final target speed value.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for controlling an operating speed of a motor provided to move an object body such as a carriage carrying a printing head in a printer, wherein a control-signal generating portion generates a control signal for controlling the speed of the motor such that a moving speed of the object body represented by a speed signal generated by a speed-signal generating portion coincides with a target value, and the control signal is generated on the basis of proportional and integral control values obtained on the basis of an output of a filter operable to remove from the speed signal a component having a frequency not lower than a predetermined threshold or at least a component corresponding to a cogging frequency of the motor, and a differential control value obtained on the basis of the output of the filter or the speed signal.

Abstract: A printing system includes a printing device and a controlling system. The printing device is capable of printing images on a recording sheet. The printing device includes a first sheet type setting system that sets first sheet data representing a type of the sheet. The controlling device is capable of communicating with the printing device, and includes a second sheet type setting system that sets second sheet data representing a type of the sheet. The printing system further includes a comparing system that compares the first sheet data with the second sheet data. The printing device performs the printing operation in accordance with a comparison result of the comparing system.

Abstract: A printer, where an image can be printed on a desired position of a printing paper both when image data is processed and when the image data is not processed, counterbalances the time delay caused by data processing by advancing the timing in which a controller outputs the image data. When the print operation is requested, the controller judges whether the data processing is set ON or OFF if the data processing circuit is connected. When the data processing is set ON, offsets of left and right or up and down are changed in order to quicken the output timing of the image data. The above timing is changed based on the time for which the data corresponds to the data of (M-1)/2 bits, and (N-1)/2 rows of a table are output by the controller.

Abstract: A printing apparatus offering high reliability by improving the rate of detecting errors in a control program supplied externally and by pointing out where the errors exist in the program. The apparatus comprises a data receiver, a flash memory, a CPU and a display unit. In operation, the apparatus receives the control program and a check program from a host computer through the data receiver. The control program defines the way the apparatus operates, and the check program is used to verify the performance of the control program. The two programs when received, are stored into the flash memory. The CPU then checks the control program for performance in accordance with the check program. The result of the check is displayed on the display unit.
