  • Patent number: 4529788
Abstract: A process for preparing a graft polymer by subjecting a cyclic ester to ring-opening polymerization in the presence of a cellulose derivative in the presence of a ring-opening polymerization catalyst for the cyclic ester. The resulting graft polymer has high transparency, good film-formability and high solubility and can be suitably used as a novel polymer material.

  • Patent number: 4521565
Abstract: A cellulose derivative-containing aqueous dispersion which is obtained by polymerizing a mixture of a cellulose derivative, at least one radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer capable of dissolving the cellulose derivative therein and water under radical polymerization conditions, said aqueous dispersion containing as a dispersion stabilizer a water-soluble or water-dispersible polymer in which polymeric chain group compatible with the polymer obtained said radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer is chemically bonded onto a hydrophilic polymeric chain group.

  • Patent number: 4417025
Abstract: A resin composition is prepared by emulsion-polymerizing a cellulose ester and at least one radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer in the aqueous medium under the presence of a dispersion stabilizer, said cellulose ester having been modified by chemically bonding thereonto a polymeric chain compatible with a polymer obtained from said radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer.

  • Patent number: 4252697
Abstract: An aqueous dispersion of synthetic resin mutually dissolved with a cellulose acetate alkylate is prepared by mixing water, a protective colloid and/or a surfactant, a cellulose acetate alkylate, an oil-soluble radical polymerization initiator and at least one monomer in which the cellulose acetate alkylate and the oil-soluble radical polymerization initiator are soluble, under stirring, to form an aqueous dispersion and then subjecting the monomer to radical polymerization to form a homogeneous mixture of the cellulose acetate alkylate and at least one polymer in the particles in the aqueous dispersion.

  • Patent number: 3935153
Abstract: Molding compositions having improved properties for low-pressure, low-shear molding techniques are prepared by carrying out a two-stage polymerization of an initial mixture comprising a polymerizable monomer selected from the group consisting of (1) a polymerizable aromatic monoalkenyl monomer or (2) a mixture of such aromatic monoalkenyl monomer with another polymerizable monovinyl monomer; in the presence of a butadiene rubber elastomer under bulk polymerization conditions, followed by suspension polymerization conditions; the process being characterized by the incorporation into the initial mixture of 1 to 10 wt. %, based on the polymerizable monomers, of a straight chain saturated polyester having an average molecular weight of 1,000 to 50,000.
