  • Patent number: 8565195
Abstract: The exemplary embodiments of this invention include apparatus, methods and computer program products that provide a signaling scheme that enables the execution of an uplink gating feature. In one non-limiting, exemplary embodiment, the signaling scheme is an Iub/Iur signaling scheme and the uplink gating feature is an uplink dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH) gating feature, for example, as may be utilized within a wideband code divisional multiple access (WCDMA) communication network. In one non-limiting, exemplary embodiment, a method includes: sending a first message from a base station towards a network element in a communications network, wherein the first message includes a first parameter that is indicative of a capability for supporting uplink gating in a cell under the base station; and sending a second message from the network element towards the base station, wherein the second message includes an instruction for uplink gating in the cell.

  • Patent number: 8483143
Abstract: During a radio link setup or reconfiguration or addition procedures, a serving radio network controller SRNC sends a request or prepare message to a drift radio network controller DRNC with a slot format information element IE, to which the DRNC sends a reply. During a physical channel reconfiguration process the DRNC sends a request to the SRNC with the slot format IE. In all cases, the DRNC uses the IE to determine the slot format for its fractional dedicated physical channel, and reconfigures it with the node B according to the IE.

  • Patent number: 8223724
Abstract: This invention is related to a system and method to setup a radio link in a CDMA mobile communication network. In particular, a radio network controller (RNC) sends a radio link setup request message, and a processing device receives the radio link setup request message. The processing device sends a radio link setup response message to the RNC, and the response is received the RNC and includes frame and chip offset information. In particular, frame and chip offset in a RNSAP Radio Link Setup Response message (after execution of UE involved relocation) is conveyed. A new SRNC will then include a random frame offset in the RNSAP Radio Link Setup Request message. The eHSPA Node B will ignore the random frame offset, and include the correct frame offset in the RNSAP Radio Link Setup Response message.

  • Patent number: 7966019
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program for re-allocating a hybrid automatic repeat request HARQ process is described where a Node B initiates HARQ re-allocation by sending to a radio network controller RNC a RL PARAMETER UPDATE INDICATION message that includes at least one of a HARQ process allocation for 2 ms non-scheduled transmission NST GRANT information element IE and a HARQ process allocation for 2 ms scheduled transmission ST GRANT IE indicating a value for HARQ process re-allocation. The Node B then receives from the RNC a RL RECONFIGURATION PREPARE or REQUEST message that contains the NST or ST GRANT IE. Responsive to receiving the RL RECONFIGURATION PREPARE or REQUEST message, the Node B sends to the RNC a RL RECONFIGURATION READY or RESPONSE message, then receives from the RNC a RL RECONFIGURATION COMMIT message. Responsive to the COMMIT message, the Node B re-allocates the HARQ process according to the RL RECONFIGURATION PREPARE or REQUEST message.

  • Patent number: 7711365
Abstract: Communications are received from a user equipment UE on an uplink enhanced dedicated channel E-DCH. The radio resources of at least one downlink channel that supports the E-DCH are either released or configured or reconfigured while the E-DCH is maintained for the UE. The downlink channels may be E-AGCH, E-HICH, or E-RGCH, and the radio resources may include a temporary identifier E-RNTI, signature sequence, and/or channelization codes. At a serving cell change of the UE, either or both of the serving cell and the non-serving cell can add/configure/reconfigure a supporting downlink channel, all without terminating the E-DCH. The UE and the SRNC are notified by an E-RGCH release indicator whether the E-RGCH is released or not at a serving cell change, and the UE deletes its stored E-RGCH parameters when the release indicator indicates it is released.

  • Patent number: 7668192
Abstract: The FP header is used to signal the RNC that the Node B has not been able to determine or has not been able to accurately determine the number of retransmissions. A first embodiment is to reserve a bit pattern for use in the ‘Number of HARQ retransmissions’ field on the Iub frame protocol DATA FRAME header to indicate that Node B does not know the actual number of retransmissions. A second embodiment is to define a one bit flag on Iub/Iur FP DATA FRAME header to indicate that the value set in the “Number of HARQ Retransmissions” in the FP header is an estimated/guessed value by Node B or not.
