  • Patent number: 6445522
Abstract: A signal processing device for analog-to-digital converting a burst signal has a feature of selecting a data bus to notify a disk control device of a conversion result via an NRZ data bus. The disk control device stores the result of the analog-to-digital conversion of the servo positional signal. The positional signal of a head of the disk device is digitalized in a R/W channel. Sampling for digital conversion is performed in only a window which is defined only in the vicinity of peaks of the positional signal. The values of peaks which are obtained by sampling are averaged by an averaging circuit. This enables the influence of noise occurred outside of the window to be eliminated. Although the noise in the window is sampled, its adverse influence is suppressed by the averaging processing.

  • Patent number: 6059689
Abstract: A system for controlling an automatic transmission mounted on a vehicle, including an automatic mode in which a gear is retrieved from predetermined gearshift characteristics by the detected vehicle speed and the engine load and a manual mode in which a gear is designated by a device manually operated by a vehicle driver. In the system, a temperature in an exhaust pipe of the vehicle is estimated based on the detecting operating conditions and the gear designated in the manual mode is corrected to upshift by one gear, if the estimated exhaust pipe temperature is found to exceed a predetermined temperature, thereby improving avoidance of the occurrence of excessive thermal load of components in the vicinity of the exhaust pipe, and that, by not conducting forced upshift until such time, fully exploits the features of the manual mode and, by this, makes the product more appealing to customers.

  • Patent number: 5970821
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a control system for an automatic transmission, which operates so that when slipping of drive wheels is generated at the starting of a vehicle on ice or the like, upshifting from a second gear shift stage to a third gear shift stag is prohibited. However, when the pseudo slipping state of the drive wheels is detected with the locking or unlocking of the drive wheels, the undesirable prohibition of the upshifting of the automatic transmission is avoided. A slip rate of a torque converter is determined on the basis of an engine revolution-speed (a torque converter input rotation-speed) and an automatic transmission input rotation-speed (a torque converter output rotation-speed).

  • Patent number: 5967941
Abstract: A system for controlling an automatic transmission mounted on a vehicle, including a gear system and hydraulic clutches which hold a member of the gear system stationary to produce gear reduction or reverse to transmit engine output, and a linear solenoid valve provided in the oil line which generates an oil pressure to be supplied to hydraulic clutches in response to a current supplied thereto. In the system, the current supply is initiated when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position where the engine is not started, producing a noise due to the solenoid valve operation. In order to avoid this, the current is limited to a predetermined value when the engine is not started and the vehicle is stopped. Moreover, since the predetermined value is slightly above the current at which the clutch pressure begins to rise, the automatic transmission can start its operation quickly when the engine is started.

  • Patent number: 5771248
Abstract: Apparatus for recording and/or reproducing user data recorded on a record medium. The apparatus includes record encoder for converting original user data into encoded user data of a predetermined record code and an error correcting code generator for generating original error correcting code data for correcting an error with respect to the encoded user data. A write unit records the encoded user data and the error correcting code on the record medium. A read unit reads the recorded data and the reproduced data is error corrected so as to provide the original user data.
