  • Publication number: 20220309482
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a point-of-sale terminal includes a controller that performs registration processing to register items being purchased by a customer in a sales transaction. The controller also performs payment processing for the sales transaction. The controller determines whether a portable terminal of the customer can receive electronic receipt information that can sent via a near-field communication device or the like. If the portable terminal can receive electronic receipt information sent via near-field communication device or the like, the controller generates electronic receipt information for the sales transaction, then transmit the generated electronic receipt information to the portable terminal using near-field communication or the like.

  • Patent number: 10970700
Abstract: In one embodiment, an information processing apparatus is mountable on and demountable from a docking station, and has an input device, an acquisition unit to acquire information indicating an operator for user authentication, and a processor. When the apparatus is mounted on the docking station, the processor permits acceptance of the operation input by the input device, without starting up the acquisition unit. When the apparatus is demounted from the docking station, the processor starts up the acquisition unit, and performs user authentication based on the information indicating the operator which has been acquired by the started up acquisition unit. When the operator is approved as a specific operator of the information processing apparatus, as a result of the user authentication, the processor permits acceptance of the operation input by the input device.

  • Patent number: 8528809
Abstract: Card data read by a card reader and a personal identification number inputted via an input unit are transmitted to an information processing apparatus. A timer is made to start measuring a predetermined waiting time in accordance with a notification of completion of processing using the card data and the personal identification number from the information processing apparatus. A warning is given if a card loaded in the card reader is detected by a detection unit when the measurement of the waiting time by the timer is finished.

  • Publication number: 20110145077
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a settlement terminal includes a card reading unit, an input unit, a card settlement unit, a cumulative storing unit, and a display unit. The card reading unit reads information stored in a card for settlement. The input unit inputs transaction information. The card settlement unit settles, using the card information read by the card reading unit and the transaction information input by the input unit, a commercial transaction related to the transaction information by card. The cumulative storing unit cumulatively stores predetermined numerical value information generated every time the commercial transaction is settled by card by the card settlement unit. The display unit displays a standby screen on which the start of the commercial transaction is received and a cumulative value of the numerical value information stored in the cumulative storing unit is shown.
