  • Patent number: 5470616
Abstract: Disclosed are shaped articles having a coating layer formed on surface region, wherein the surface region is formed of a polymer derived from a multifunctional acrylic monomer and having 0.02 to 0.2 .mu.mol/cm.sup.2 of acidic groups therein, by curing a coating composition consisting essentially of a specific silica polycondensate. The silica polycondensate is obtained by mixing (I) colloidal silica and (II) a specific silicon compound in such a molar ratio that the average number of hydrolyzable groups is within the range of 2.30 to 3.85, and then subjecting them to cohydrolysis and polycondensation. In these shaped articles, the coating layer have excellent properties such as hardness and abrasion resistance, as well as good adhesion.

  • Patent number: 5015524
Abstract: A lens sheet comprising a transparent substrate and a lens portion composed of a cured product of an ultraviolet-curable resin composition, which is formed on at least one surface of the transparent substrate. The resin composition exhibits a polymerization shrinkage at curing of not larger than 20% as calculated based on the difference of the specific gravity at 25.degree. C., and a modulus of elasticity at 25.degree. C. after curing of 10 to 1,000 kg/cm.sup.2. The ultraviolet-curable resin composition is preferably comprised of a polyvalent (meth)acrylate, a mono(meth)acrylate and a photopolymerization initiator.

  • Patent number: 4815807
Abstract: A collimator lens for an optical fiber is disclosed. The collimator lens comprises a cylindrical member having an effective radius R and effective axial length L. The cylindrical member is formed of optically transparent material having refractive index n.sub.1. The cylindrical member has one circular end portion provided with a connecting portion connectable with a light emitting end face of an optical fiber and the other circular end portion provided with a fresnel lens pattern having a positive focal length F. The focal length F, the effective length L, the effective radius R and the refractive index n.sub.1 are satisfied with the following formula (I) and (II);F/L=tan {sin.sup.-1 (NA/n.sub.1 }/tan {sin.sup.-1 (NA)} (I)R.gtoreq.L.multidot.tan {sin.sup.-1 (NA/n.sub.1)} (II)in which NA is numerical aperture of the optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 4758464
Abstract: Described is a transparent electroconductive material composed of a transparent synthetic resin substrate and a transparent electroconductive film formed on the resin substrate. At least a surface portion of the resin substrate on which the electroconductive film is formed satisfies a requirement represented by the formula: F x Hv=0.4 wherein F is the mole number (.mu.mole/cm.sup.2) of a basic dye that can react with or adhere to the unit area of the surface of the synthetic resin, and Hv is the Vickers hardness as determined according to JIS Z-2244. The absolute value of the photoelasticity constant of the resin substrate below the glass transition temperature thereof is not larger than 15 Brewsters.

  • Patent number: 4704328
Abstract: An undercoat composition for ceramic flame spraying and composite molded articles produced using the undercoat composition are disclosed. The undercoat composition comprises an inorganic filler component having complex irregularities in the surface thereof and an organic binder component. The composite molded articles comprises a substrate, a ceramic flame sprayed coating, and an intermediate layer between the substrate and the ceramic flame sprayed coating, said intermediate layer being made of the above undercoat composition. The present undercoat composition permits good ceramic flame spraying, and there can be obtained composite molded articles having good impact resistance and environmental resistance.
