  • Publication number: 20020045254
Abstract: Established cells derived from retinal capillary endothelial cells, choroid plexus epithelial cells, or brain capillary endothelial cells or a transgenic animal carrying a large T-antigen gene of an SV40 temperature sensitive mutant tsA58. The cell line derived from retinal capillary endothelial cells expresses a temperature sensitive SV40 large T-antigen, GLUT-1 transporter, and p-glycoprotein. The cell line derived from choroid plexus epithelial cells expresses a temperature sensitive SV40 large T-antigen gene and shows localization of Na+—K+ ATPase and GLUT-1 transporter in the cell membrane. When cultured in a monolayer, it shows the localization of Na+—K+ ATPase in the apical side. The cell line derived from brain capillary endothelial cells expresses a temperature sensitive SV40 large T-antigen, GLUT-1 transporter, p-glycoprotein, alkaline phosphatase, and &ggr;-glutamyltransferase.

  • Patent number: 6046033
Abstract: A protein is provided derived from human fibroblast having an N-terminal amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NOS: 1 and 2, having a molecular weight of approximately 15kD under reducing and non-reducing conditions by (dosium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis), and having an activity to stimulate growth of osteoblast. The protein is produced by gene engineering procedures, contains the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 9 and has osteoblast growth activity. Also provided is a method for preparing the protein by culturing human fibroblast and treating the conditioned medium for purification. The protein is utilized for the treatment of diseases characterized by decreased bone mass such as osteoporosis or is utilized as an antigen for immunological diagnosis of diseases.

  • Patent number: 5648233
Abstract: Modified TCF in which one or more amino-acid residues of the wild type TCF responsible for glycosylation are substituted or deleted so that at least one N-linked oligosaccharide chain is removed. The modified TCFs have a longer biological half-lives without loss of their biological activities. The modified TCFs are therapeutically important as agents for liver diseases or as anti-cancer drugs.

  • Patent number: 5510327
Abstract: This invention provides pharmaceutical preparations containing highly concentrated tumor cytotoxic factor (TCF). The pharmaceutical preparations of the present invention contain highly concentrated TCF and a basic amino acid or their salts, or an organic or inorganic salt as a solubizer. The resultant compositions described in the present invention dissolve TCF at high concentrations of 10 mg/ml or over under about neutral and isotonic conditions. The resultant compositions are stable and are suitable for injection preparations.
