Abstract: A bactericidal composition comprising a hypertonic solution and a surfactant, and having an osmotic pressure of not less than 300 mOsm. The bactericidal composition of the present invention shows an unexpectedly high bactericidal activity. Such a highly bactericidal composition can be used as an external agent, a disinfectant, an agent for contact lenses and the like.
