    Abstract: In a caliper brake for a bicycle, a shaft member extending through a brake arm is provided either on a fixture securing an end of an operating wire to a first brake arm or on a support provided on a second brake arm for an outer pipe guiding the operating wire. The shaft member is detachably mounted on the brake arm and includes a portion projecting from the brake arm which portion is provided with a groove. A wire retaining member is provided with a pivotal portion and an engaging portion, the pivotal portion being pivotally attached to the brake arm and the engaging portion engaging with the groove.

    Abstract: A brake control device for a bicycle is disclosed having main and auxiliary levers which are pivoted to a bracket fixed to the handle bar of a bicycle. The levers are mounted to be swingable independently of one another to swingingly move a wire hook which is integral with the auxiliary lever and which anchors one end of a brake control wire. The main lever is provided with an engaging member for swinging the wire hook upon main lever operation and between the engaging member and wire is provided an adjusting bolt for adjusting the relative position of the wire hook and engaging member. Adjustment of the adjusting bolt controls the distance between the grip portion of the auxiliary lever and the portion of the handle bar opposite thereto. An adjustment of the distance between the main lever and the portion of the handle bar opposite it can also be effected through the provision of an adjustable ratchet mechanism provided in association with the main lever.

    Abstract: A coil spring is provided which extends around and along a peripheral cylindrical surface formed of a cylindrical boss defined at the central portion of a rotary body and an adjacent cylindrical mounting tube of a bicycle wheel hub to which the rotary body is screwed for rotation therewith. When the rotary body receives braking torque from a braking surface applied thereto in a manner which would cause an unscrewing of the rotary body from the mounting tube, the coil spring becomes smaller in diameter to tighten about the cylindrical boss and mounting tube to prevent the unscrewing of the rotary body.
