  • Patent number: 6084034
Abstract: A urethane-resin based coating for reducing friction includes a urethane paint and a first powder. The coating is to be applied to a shaped article which is to be subjected to a heat treatment at a certain temperature after the application of the coating to the shaped article. The first powder has a melting point lower than the certain temperature and a solubility parameter which is smaller than or larger than that of the urethane paint by at least 0.5. The coating optionally further includes a second powder which has a melting point higher than the certain temperature. The coating provides the shaped article with low friction, irrespective of the coating film's thickness.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 6, 1998
Date of Patent: July 4, 2000
Assignee: Kinugawa Rubber Ind. Co., Ltd.
    Inventors: Masayoshi Miyama, Naoaki Hoshino

  • Patent number: 5476626
Abstract: A method for forming a weatherstrip includes extruding a compound formed of 1-10 weight of polyglycidyl methacrylate having an epoxy group in the molecular structure thereof added per 100 parts of a rubber compound formed of SBR/EPDM. As the compound is extruded from the extruder, a urethane coating material is supplied to a nozzle to accomplish coating of an article concurrently with forming thereof. The extruded article is then vulcanized to assure good sealability.

  • Patent number: 5267846
Abstract: A device producing a weather strip is shown, which includes (a) leading a first uncured pasty material into a certain shaping passage to produce an uncured shaped molded strap; (b) applying continuously a second uncured pasty material onto a given portion of the uncured shaped molded strap while the latter is being moved in the certain shaping passage thereby to produce a layered uncured shaped molded strap; and (c) curing the layered uncured shaped molded strap.

  • Patent number: 4945123
Abstract: A coating composition for treating a surface of a high molecular elastic material is disclosed which consists essentially of (a) a urethane coating material; (b) a silicone oil; (c) a fluorocarbon resin powder; and (d) a polyethylene powder, the silicone oil, fluorocarbon resin powder, and polyethylene powder being mixed and blended with the urethane coating material. The coating composition provides a superior wear resistance characteristic and wear durability and a low friction coefficient for the coated surface.
