  • Publication number: 20220365610
Abstract: A method to be performed by a sensor controller that periodically transmits an uplink signal, and by a stylus that, upon receiving the uplink signal, determines a transmission and reception schedule for a downlink signal and the uplink signal on the basis of the reception timing of the uplink signal. The method includes executing, by the stylus, an uplink signal receiving operation for a first predetermined period of time according to the transmission and reception schedule. The method includes, responsive to the uplink signal not received through the receiving operation and expiration of the first predetermined period of time, continuing, by the stylus, the uplink signal receiving operation for a second predetermined period of time, instead of transmitting the downlink signal according to the transmission and reception schedule.

  • Publication number: 20220300135
Abstract: An active pen communicates with a sensor controller using a series of time slots, to receive uplink signals from and transmit downlink signals to the sensor controller. The series of time slots are determined based on the reception timing, by the active pen, of an uplink signal used as a reference time. The active pen determines whether or not the uplink signal is received and, if yes, the active pen transmits a first downlink signal using a time within the series of time slots. If no, the active pen transmits a second downlink signal using both a time within the series of time slots and a time outside the series of time slots. The second downlink signal is formed by repeating a unit signal that is shorter in duration than each of the series of time slots, to ensure reception by the sensor controller of at least one unit signal.

  • Publication number: 20220200337
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an active stylus that transmits and receives signals to and from an electronic device, the active stylus including a receiver which, in operation, receives an uplink signal transmitted from the electronic device, a transmitter which, in operation, transmits a downlink signal to the electronic device, a power receiver which, in operation, receives power wirelessly supplied from the electronic device, and an integrated circuit. When the power is not being supplied to the power receiver, the integrated circuit causes the transmitter to transmit the downlink signal in response to the receiver receiving the uplink signal. The integrated circuit stops transmission of the downlink signal by the transmitter in response to detecting that supply of the power supply to the power receiver has started.

  • Publication number: 20220075495
Abstract: A method of palm rejection is executed by a sensor controller that is connected to a plurality of sensor electrodes and that detects a downlink signal transmitted from an active pen. The method includes determining whether or not a phase of the detected downlink signal matches a phase shared in advance between the sensor controller and the active pen, and outputting, when it is determined that the phases match, a position of the active pen derived on the basis of a distribution of levels of the downlink signal in the plurality of sensor electrodes.

  • Publication number: 20220026997
Abstract: A processor of a stylus according to the present disclosure detects a first signal supplied to a sensor electrode group in each frame. The processor determines whether the first signal represents a setting instruction of a local ID, and writes a value of the local ID specified by the setting instruction in a memory if the first signal is determined to represent the setting instruction. The processor repeatedly detects a second signal supplied to the sensor electrode group in each of one or more slots included in the frame. The processor compares values of a local ID included in the detected second signal and the local ID stored in the memory every time the processor detects the second signal, and transmits a first downlink signal to a sensor controller using an electrode if the values correspond with each other.
