  • Publication number: 20140372062
Abstract: A length from a lower end position of the detection head (11) to a measurement lower limit of the detection head (11) is divided by height positions separated with a predetermined interval pitch. A plurality of virtual level plates (40) are prepared to be placed respectively at the height positions separated with a predetermined interval pitch such that gaps between themselves and each wide face of the mold (1) are not larger than 2 mm respectively at the height positions. Calibration is carried out while using each of the virtual level plates (40) at a corresponding one of the height positions.

  • Patent number: 6712122
Abstract: The method for controlling flow pattern of molten steel in continuous casting, comprises the steps of: (a) continuously casting a molten steel injected through an immersion nozzle; (b) measuring temperatures of a copper plate on longer side of the mold in width direction thereof at plurality of points; (c) detecting a flow pattern of the molten steel in the mold based on the time-sequential variations of temperatures of the copper plate at individual measurement points; and (d) controlling the flow pattern to establish a specified pattern on the basis of the detected result. The temperatures of mold copper plate are measured by plurality of temperature measurement elements buried in the rear face of the mold copper plate for continuous casting. The temperature measurement elements are arranged in a range of from 10 to 135 mm distant from the melt surface in the mold in the slab-drawing direction.

  • Patent number: 4949776
Abstract: A molten metal pouring nozzle for a continuous casting machine having an endless-travelling type mold, wherein the endless-travelling type mold is formed with two pairs of opposing wall members endlessly travelling in the same direction and at the same speed, and one end of the pouring nozzle is connected to a tundish for receiving molten metal, and the other end of the pouring nozzle is inserted into the mold. The molten metal pouring nozzle of the present invention comprises a nozzle body made of a refractory and a flow regulator made of a refractory. The nozzle body (14, 20) has a bore (1a, 3a), through which molten metal flows, along the axial line thereof, and the sectional area of the downstream end portion of the bore (1a, 3a) becomes gradually larger toward the downstream end thereof. The flow regulator (15, 18) is arranged at the center of the downstream end portion of the bore (1a, 3a) of the nozzle body (14, 20).

  • Patent number: 4926925
Abstract: Position sensors at an inlet of a mold cavity defined by upper and lower block molds detect distances from the passing upper and lower block molds. In response to outputs from the position sensors, any deflection of the leading end of the tundish nozzle, which can be inclined with respect to the melt outlet of a tundish, toward the upper or lower block molds defining the mold cavity is detected by a control device to generate a drive signal which is delivered to a hydraulic cylinder adapted to incline the tundish nozzle by extending or retracting the rod thereof, whereby the gaps between the leading end of the tundish nozzle and the upper and lower block molds are maintained uniform.
