  • Patent number: 6554542
Abstract: A stress transmission device arranged between a pile head of a foundation pile and an upper structural portion for transmitting stress between the foundation pile and the upper structural portion, to a structure which employs such a stress transmission device, and to a method of constructing such a structure. In the figures, a pile head member 5 is provided to the pile head 2a of the foundation pile 2, a structure support member 6 is fixed to an upper structural portion 3, and these mutually contact one another in the vertical direction via a first contacting surface 11 which defines a portion of a first imaginary spherical surface Sv1. And a prestressing steel rod 7 is fitted to the pile head member 5 and the structure support member 6 for holding them together in contact while pressing them together via the first contacting surface 11.

  • Patent number: 5200157
Abstract: The susceptor according to the present invention comprises a main body in the shape of a trapezoidal plate, and which has three circular depressions formed in its surface. The main body is made of silicon carbide having a bulk density of 3.00 g/cm.sup.3 or more. At least 70% of the surface region of the main body is made of crystal particles having a diameter of 5 .mu.m or more. The main body has a thickness of, for example, 700 .mu.m. Six susceptors are attached to a hexagonal upper plate which is fastened to a shaft, and also to a hexagonal lower plate, thereby forming a barrel. Silicon wafers are placed in the circular depressions, so that single-crystal layers may be epitaxially formed on the wafers.

  • Patent number: 4679968
Abstract: A cutter insert of the indexable type for a rotary cutter includes a body of a plate of a generally circular shape and having three notches of a V-shape formed in a circumferential face of the body in equally circumferentially spaced relation, each V-shaped notch being defined by a pair of first and second opposed walls. A front face of the body cooperates with the circumferential face, interrupted by the three V-shaped notches, to define three arcuate convex cutting edges each having a leading and a trialing end. A marginal portion of the front face disposed adjacent to and extending along each cutting edge serves as a rake surface for the cutting edge, the rake surface being recessed adjacent to the first wall of the V-shaped notch so as to slope toward a rear face of the body toward the first wall to provide a convex portion extending between the front face and the first wall.
