  • Patent number: 8749138
Abstract: The present invention is to provide a novel ultraviolet irradiation metal halide lamp which can produce more intense light of ultraviolet region with a wavelength near 365 [nm]. This lamp is a metal halide lamp to produce mainly light of ultraviolet region. In order to produce light with a high spectrum in ultraviolet region, particularly, light of a wavelength of 350 to 380 [nm], at least mercury (Hg) and an iron are sealed into this lamp together with a rare gas. The sealed iron into the lamp is supplied by iron iodide (FeI2) and iron bromide (FeBr2) as iron halide (FeX2) and metal iron (Fe). When a quantity of materials sealed into the lamp is expressed such that A represents a quantity of metal iron sealed into the lamp, B represents a quantity of iron iodide sealed into the lamp and C represents a quantity of iron bromide sealed into the lamp, respectively, the quantity A of the metal iron falls within the range of 0.5(B+C)?A?10.

  • Patent number: 6312587
Abstract: A method of treating a polychlorinated aromatic compound or a hydrocarbon oil containing a polychlorinated aromatic compound involves the step of heating while stirring the polychlorinated aromatic compound or the hydrocarbon oil containing the polychlorinated aromatic compound in the presence an alkali metal tert-butoxide as a reactant to remove chlorine from the polychlorinated aromatic compound and provide a post-reaction system with no chlorine.

  • Patent number: 5647220
Abstract: Merchandise temperature sensors 16 for detecting merchandise temperatures simultaneously with in-housing temperature sensors 17 for detecting the in-housing air temperature of a merchandise housing are provided in the merchandise housing of a vending machine. Further, the cooling mechanism is controlled by means of the merchandise temperature sensor 16 during the peak shift or peak cut, whereas the cooling mechanism is controlled by means of in-housing temperature sensor 17 during normal operation. Thus the merchandise temperature is directly detected during the peak shift or peak cut where the temperature sharply varies so as to increase merchandise temperature control accuracy. Even when the installation of the merchandise temperature sensors is limited to some columns in view of cost reduction, the cooling mechanism is made controllable by collectively detecting the merchandise temperature in the whole column by means of the in-housing temperature sensors 17 during the normal operation.

  • Patent number: 5431469
Abstract: A vacuum lift device comprising a lift tube which is able to contract and expand in an upward and downward direction, and a lift tube expansion control valve controlling the opening areas of the atmospheric openings of the lift tube. A hovering control valve controlling the flow area between the second atmospheric opening and the interior of the lift tube is provided. The lift tube expansion control valve is normally positioned at a position such that is completely covers the first atmospheric opening, and the second atmospheric opening is open to the outside space. At this time, the level of vacuum in the lift tube is adjusted by the hovering control valve so that an object to be lifted is maintained at a desired height.

  • Patent number: 4469308
Abstract: A lever hoist comprises a change gear provided in a driving shaft for driving a sheave for winding-up a chain or rope for a load, an operating lever rockably driven by a hand, winding-up and winding-off driving pawls engageable with teeth of the change gear and changeable in response to the purpose of hoisting or lowering the load, and a braking assembly for preventing the change gear from being driven by a gravity of the load and having a spring for releasing the braking assembly. According to the invention the lever hoist further comprises a brake spring control member rotatably fitted on the driving shaft, a brake clamping spring arranged between the driving member and the brake spring control member, and a direction change transmission mechanism for transforming rotation of the brake spring control member into axial urging force of the brake clamping spring.

  • Patent number: 4211243
Abstract: Expanded porous tobacco stems with a low apparent density and an excellent quality of smoking taste are obtained by heating under a pressurized atmosphere tobacco stems separated from tobacco leaves, as such or after moisturization, at a temperature of 150.degree. to 300.degree. C. and a pressure of 3 kg/cm.sup.2 (gage) or more in the presence of superheated steam for a period of 30 seconds or less and suddenly releasing the pressure to effect expansion of the stems. The resulting expanded stems are shredded into cut tobacco stems or made into reconstituted tobacco sheet to provide a tobacco material of excellent filling capacity.
