  • Patent number: 7169728
Abstract: A condensed phosphate containing an alkaline earth metal is caused to be present on the surface of titanium dioxide fine particles, and as a result, the condensed phosphate is firmly coupled with the fine particles and is barely liberated from the surface of the fine particles into a medium such as a binder or a resin. As a result, photo-functional particles exhibiting durability and dispersion stability are obtained. By use of the photo-functional particles, a powder and a slurry exhibiting excellent photo-functional property, durability, dispersion stability, and hydrophilicity are produced. In addition, by use of the powder and slurry, a polymer composition, a coating agent, a photo-functional formed article, and a photo-functional structure are produced.

  • Publication number: 20060116279
Abstract: A composite particle comprised of a larger particle and, supported thereon, smaller particles wherein the smaller particles are photocatalyst-containing fine particles with an average particle diameter of 0.005-0.5 ?m as calculated from a BET specific surface area, and the larger particle has an average particle diameter of 2-200 ?m as measured by the laser diffraction-scattering particle size measuring method. The smaller particle is preferably a composite particle of titanium dioxide with an inorganic compound exhibiting no catalytic activity, such as silica, or a particle containing a Br?onsted acid salt, especially on the surface thereof; and an advantageous method for producing the above composite particles wherein the above larger particles and smaller particles are dry mixed by a ball-mill or mixed by rotation of blades or by shaking, with an energy constant controlled within a specific range.

  • Patent number: 7029768
Abstract: A food container on which surface titanium oxide particles are fixed, where titanium oxide particles may contain brookite crystals, the material of which the food container is constructed may be stainless steel, and the titanium oxide particles may be bonded using a sintering aid, a binder or both. When the food container is made of glass, satisfactory mechanical strength of the container can be maintained even when the thickness of a wall of the container is reduced. Since titanium oxide particles can be fixed onto a surface of a food container at a temperature as low as 20 to 450° C. by use of a sintering aid, a binder or both thermal deformation of glass forming the food container can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 7021421
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a transparent noise-barrier wall which is slow to foul, easy to clean even when fouled, and capable of maintaining these effects over a long period of time. The transparent noise-barrier wall has brookite titanium dioxide substantially existing on the surface. The titanium dioxide particles preferably contain about 20% by mass or more of brookite titanium dioxide.

  • Patent number: 6887816
Abstract: When a polybasic acid salt containing at least one species selected from the group consisting of an alkaline earth metal, a transition metal, and Al is caused to be present on the surfaces of titanium dioxide fine particles, there are obtained photocatalytic particles and powder exhibiting sufficient photocatalytic properties when irradiated with light from a light source of low quantity of light.
