  • Patent number: 5165677
Abstract: An intermediate paper feeding device for a copier operable in a two-side copy mode. A stop for positioning paper sheets stacked on an intermediate tray guides, in the event of refeed, a paper sheet toward the contacting portion of a separating member pair. A presser member for pressing the top of a paper stack loaded on the intermediate tray is operated in interlocked relation to the stop. The stop and presser member, therefore, share a single drive mechanism. The presser member has a pressing surface which remains in surface-to-surface contact with the top of the paper stack on the tray over substantially the entire area thereof with no regard to the thickness of the paper stack.

  • Patent number: 5008709
Abstract: A document recycling copier having, in a system configuration, a copier body, a recycling document handler which may be loaded with a stack of documents of different sizes, and a finisher for automatically arranging and binding a series of copied paper sheets. The copier is capable of copying the individual documents of different sizes on paper sheets the sizes of which are individually associated with the documents, or copying all of the documents of different sizes on paper sheets of the same size, as desired.

  • Patent number: 4864363
Abstract: A device for cleaning a corona wire of a corona discharger which is installed in an electrophotographic copier, electrostatic printer or similar electrostatic recorder to play the role of a charger or a discharger. Cleaning members each being provided with a cleaner pad for rubbing against the corona wire are driven by a feed screw and not by a wire and pulley mechanism. The cleaning members brought to a home position are fully spaced apart from the corona wire. When cleaner support members are brought close to any of members which journal the feed screw at opposite ends of the feed screw, they are caused into resilient contact with the journalling member through a coil spring.

  • Patent number: 4682158
Abstract: A machine has a control panel with a plurality of keys controlling various functions. A display exhibits prompts as to the proper operation of the machine. An operator can learn the functions of the keys by manipulating them and observing the resulting prompts. The display additionally exhibits maintenance and (in a diagnostic mode) diagnostic prompts. Sensors respond to various maintenance or diagnostic conditions. Signals from the sensors cause a storage means to supply corresponding prompts to the display to prompt the needed maintenance or diagnostic procedure. When the appropriate procedure has been performed, additional prompts for subsequent procedures will be displayed if appropriate.

  • Patent number: 4677310
Abstract: A power supply control device for a copier of the type having a timer therein is disclosed. The device allows a power supply of the copier to be turned on and off at any desired time which is set through ten keys. Data entered through the ten keys are loaded in a store. The data read out of the store and present time data output from the timer are compared and, as they compare equal, a power supply driver turns on the power supply. Guidance displays are referenced in the event of entering data.

  • Patent number: 4627707
Abstract: A copier with an image editing function which extracts desired areas of a plurality of documents in an analog fashion and allows them to be edited on a single transfer sheet. The copier includes an erasing device for selectively erasing an image provided on a photoconductive element, a detaining device for temporarily detaining a transfer sheet, an image inputting device for inputting an image of an original document, and a display device for displaying an input condition. Desired areas of documents are specified and edited with the aid of displays and then copied. Where the specified areas of the documents overlap each other, one of them having priority over the other or a selected one of them is copied. The number of areas to be edited is open to choice. The specified areas are entered through editing keys and usual ten keys. The erasing device is driven by a controller which is responsive to digital signals which are derived from position setting knobs associated with two perpendicular scales.
