  • Patent number: 9072964
Abstract: In an information processing apparatus stores, save data shared among first-third applications is stored in a memory for saved data by bringing it into correspondence with the first-third applications as first-third data. A computer integrates the first-third data stored in the memory for saved data within a main memory when the first application is activated, for example, and updates the integration data in accordance with execution of the first application and overwrites the first data and second data stored in the memory for saved data with the updated integration data in response to an automatic saving instruction or a saving instruction by a user at the same time.

  • Patent number: 8308564
Abstract: Game data variable in accordance with the state of an input device and usable for game processing is sequentially obtained. Next, it is determined whether or not a predetermined condition for the game processing has been fulfilled based on the game data. Information on an indicated position on a game image, which is calculated from the game data when the predetermined condition has been fulfilled, is obtained. A moving speed of the input device which is calculated from the game data is also obtained. When the obtained moving speed is equal to or greater than a predetermined speed, an object which appears in a virtual game space and is related to the indicated position is processed.

  • Patent number: 8096881
Abstract: Output data varying depending on a motion of an input device itself is obtained and stored into a memory. From the stored output data history, successive extremums of values indicated by the output data are detected. An interval between times when the output data indicating the successive extremums and an elapsed time from the detection of the extremum is measured. Thereafter, game input data is calculated by substituting into a predetermined function the measured elapsed time and the calculated time interval, and the game input data is used to execute a game process.

  • Patent number: 8068096
Abstract: A game system comprises a pointing device for pointing to an arbitrary point in a game screen displayed on a display device and an acceleration sensor provided in the pointing device. A processor of the game system repeatedly identifies a position of the point pointed to by the pointing device to detect a change in the identified position. Also, the processor determines a movement direction of the pointing device based on an acceleration detected by an acceleration sensor. When detecting a position change, the processor executes game processing based on the position change, and when detecting no position change, the processor executes game processing based on the determined movement direction of the pointing device.

  • Patent number: 8009877
Abstract: A game apparatus includes a camera cartridge, and detects a plurality of feature points from a facial image of a user photographed by the camera cartridge. The game apparatus calculates areas of black eye regions of a left eye and a right eye by utilizing the plurality of feature points. Then, the game apparatus detects whether or not any one of the left eye and the right eye is closed on the basis of the calculated areas. The game apparatus executes game processing according to the detection result.

  • Patent number: 7894638
Abstract: One of a plurality of prepared given expressions is displayed on a screen. After the given expression is presented to the user, the position of a face feature point is detected from a face image of the user taken by a camera cartridge. Based on the detected position of the face feature point, the user's expression in the face image is expressed in accordance with the evaluation criteria corresponding to the given expression, and an image representing the evaluation result is displayed on the screen. Thus, the user can effectively train the mimetic muscles.

  • Patent number: 5270544
Abstract: An X-ray detector used in an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer The detector comprises a cooling vessel containing liquid nitrogen and a protective container enclosing the cooling vessel. The space between the cooling vessel and the protective container is hermetically partitioned into a dewar tank portion and a nose portion by a partition wall. An X-ray detector device is accommodated in the nose portion. If the liquid nitrogen inside the cooling vessel evaporates, the produced gas stays only inside the dewar tank portion and does not enter the nose portion.

  • Patent number: 5212953
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for preventing evaporation of liquefied gas in a liquefied gas reservoir used for cooling an energy dispersive spectrometer type X-ray detector (EDS detector) and its control method. A cold head of a cryogenic refrigerator is disposed in an upper opening of the liquefied gas reservoir, the cryogenic refrigerator is adapted to be put into automatic operation depending on temperature inside the liquefied gas reservoir, wherein the automatic operation mode of the cryogenic refrigerator is put into rest by remote control during the use of the EDS detector, while the cryogenic refrigerator is put into automatic operation with a previous alarm issued when the temperature inside the liquefied gas reservoir increases over a set temperature with the EDS detector being out of use, thereby allowing vaporized gas to be reliquefied with gas consumption reduced.

  • Patent number: 4910399
Abstract: There is disclosed an electron microscope having an X-ray detector that detects the X-rays emanating from a specimen placed between the upper and lower magnetic pole pieces of an objective lens in the path of an electron beam. The dimension of the detector taken longitudinally of the gap between the pole pieces is larger than the dimension of the detector taken across the gap. A heat transfer rod is inserted between the gap to cool the detector. The detector is mounted to the rod. There is also disclosed an electron microscope having an X-ray detector mounted on the side surface of a heat transfer rod which faces the path of an electron beam. The rod extends along a straight line that runs substantially perpendicular to the path remotely from the path.
