  • Patent number: 5485043
Abstract: In display comprising a display surface member with a plurality of display surfaces, and a permanent magnet type motor mechanism composed of a stator having magnetic members each forming a magnetic pole at one free end and excitation windings wound on the magnetic members and a rotor having a magnet member with a double-pole permanent magnet, the number of display surfaces of the display surface member is three or more odd number; the numbers of magnetic members and excitation windings of the rotor are also odd in accordance with the number of display surfaces and the magnet member of the rotor has a first magnetic pole opposed to the magnetic pole of one of the odd number of magnetic members and a second magnetic pole opposed to the magnetic poles of the other two adjacent magnetic members.

  • Patent number: 4566003
Abstract: A display element is formed by a four-sided right prismatic block member which is rotatable about the axis of its own, has embedded therein first and second magnetic pieces to extend along edges lying on the same diagonal line and has two display surfaces formed by two adjacent ones of four outer peripheral surfaces of the block member.A display panel comprises a display surface structure, a display switching unit and a drive unit. The display surfaces structure has such display elements sequentially disposed on each line of arrangement at predetermined intervals. The display switching unit has an erasing magnetic head and a writing magnetic head common to the display elements disposed on each line of arrangement. The drive unit has means for moving the display elements and the erasing and writing magnetic heads relative to each other, and means for energizing the writing magnetic head in synchronism with the relative movement of them.

  • Patent number: 4417241
Abstract: A display panel which is provided with a display surface structure having a large number of display elements rotatably arranged in a vertical plane. The display elements are each formed by a block member having a plurality of display surfaces of different colors and a plurality of magnetic pieces. One of the magnetic pieces is shorter than the others in a lateral direction. By successive movement of head assemblies, each comprised of a first erasing head, a second erasing head and a writing head, one or more of the display elements are turned to bring a predetermined one of their display surfaces to the front of the display surface to erase a display of a character, graph, pattern or the like provided thereon, thereafter bringing a selected one of the display surfaces of a selected display element or elements to the front of the display surface to provide thereon a display of a character, graph, pattern or the like.
