  • Patent number: 5216585
Abstract: A switching power source device includes a rectifying smoothing circuit made up of a full-wave rectifier 2 and a small-capacity capacitor 3, a resonance frequency controlled type resonance converter circuit 4 having a controlled resonance frequency, a power source regulating transformer 7 having a primary winding N.sub.1, a secondary winding N.sub.2 insulated from the primary winding N.sub.1, and a control winding at right angles to the primary and secondary windings, a controller 9 for controlling the controlling current of the power source regulating transformer 7 and a rectifying smoothing capacitor 8 determining the ripple voltage of the dc output voltage from the power source regulating transformer 7 in conjunction with the load power. With the switching power source device, the harmonic distortion in the ac input current is diminished and the ac input voltage is improved to a sinusoidal wave.

  • Patent number: 4736283
Abstract: An improved switching power source in which the output of the DC input power source is switched off and on under control of switching elements of an oscillating drive circuit which is supplied to the primary side of a power source transformer and from which a constant voltage output is supplied from the secondary of the transformer. A saturable reactor transformer supplies an input to the control terminals of the switching elements of the oscillating drive circuit and the inductance of the saturable reactor transformer is controlled with the output voltage from the secondary of the power source transformer so as to control the oscillating frequency of the oscillating drive circuit and, thus, stabilize the output voltage at the secondary of the power source transformer so as to obtain an increased conversion efficiency, reduce the size and weight of the transformer, reduce the leakage flux, improve the control range and reduce the cost of production.

  • Patent number: 4409523
Abstract: A pincushion distortion correction saturable reactor is a saturable transformer comprising a core having four legs, controlled and control coils being coupled to the core legs in a perpendicular relation to each other. The core gap for the controlled coil is provided in an unbalanced form, and a parabolic current at the vertical scanning frequency (or at horizontal scanning frequency) containing a superimposed DC component is supplied through the control coil to modulate the inductance of the controlled coil. The inductance of the controlled coil is thus reduced in a region where the magnetomotive force produced by the control coil is greater than that produced by the control coil to preclude deflectional distortion in the neighborhood of the center of the reproduction on the screen and improve the horizontal linearity.

  • Patent number: 4339792
Abstract: A voltage regulator using a saturable transformer comprises a transformer having a primary and secondary windings, an AC power source for supplying the primary winding a fluctuating alternating current, and a rectifier connected to the secondary winding for rectifying an AC voltage derived therefrom to produce a DC output voltage. The transformer includes a core having four legs and two common portions magnetically joining the four legs, and a control winding supplied with DC control bias from a control circuit. The primary and secondary windings are wound on the first and second legs and the control winding is wound on the first and third legs.

  • Patent number: 4308495
Abstract: A transformer for voltage regulators has a first core provided with four legs and two common base plates, which are magnetically joined to the four legs, with an input winding being wound on the first and second legs, an output winding being wound on the legs in a transformer-coupling manner to the input winding, and a control winding being wound on the first and third legs in an orthogonal coupling manner with the first winding, and a second core joined to one of the common base plates of the first core to form a magnetical loop with a coil being wound thereon.

  • Patent number: 4215296
Abstract: A television horizontal deflection circuit is provided with a flyback transformer and a switching regulator transformer which are substantially magnetically independent of each other and which are connected with their primaries in series with a switching device and a source of input voltage. The secondary winding of the switching regulator transformer supplies power to a regulated D.C. voltage supply, which in turn supplies power to a resonant circuit. The resonant circuit is connected to a reference potential through the switching device and includes a damper diode, a resonant capacitor, a deflection coil and a series connected capacitor. A secondary winding of the flyback transformer is used to derive a high voltage for use in the high voltage anode of a television picture tube. In a preferred embodiment, the flyback transformer contains an additional winding which is connected between the regulated D.C. voltage supply and the resonant circuit.
