  • Patent number: 9097703
Abstract: Compositions and methods for light controlled protein-protein interactions in a living cell. Two interacting PICL (protein interaction controlled by light) polypeptides are provided. The first polypeptide comprises an LOV (Light, Oxygen or Voltage) domain, which domain is a light sensor that uses flavin mononucleotide (FMN) as a chromophore. The second polypeptide, specifically interacts with the L polypeptide upon light activation of the LOV domain. One or both of the polypeptides are fused to a cellular protein of interest. Upon exposure to light, a targeted interaction between cellular proteins occurs. The ability to regulate protein-protein interactions with subcellular resolution using light is useful for controlling biochemical processes such transcription, receptor activation, protein degradation, synapse formation, etc. in cells and animals.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20100214475
Abstract: A mobile terminal includes a recording unit configured to record television broadcast program; a first extracting unit configured to extract caption information from each of the television broadcast programs; a storage unit configured to store the caption information extracted by the first extracting unit for each of the television broadcast programs recorded by the recording unit; and a display unit configured to, when displaying a list of the programs recorded by the recording unit, display the caption information of each recorded television programs stored by the storage unit. The mobile terminal, is capable of displaying a list of programs recorded that allows users to identify the contents of the programs in detail even on a small display screen by extracting distinctive textual information about each of the recorded programs from textural information such as caption information contained in the programs.

  • Patent number: 4970800
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for grading and measuring surfaces such as roadbeds which have curved and inclined profiles which may have different shapes in successive transverse sections of the roadbed. A blade and screw cutter are supported by a frame which extends over the surface being worked, and these tools are movable along this frame. The tools are movable toward and away from the surface being shaped in response to a control means which has memorized the appropriate positions, or by reference to a deformable rule which may also be reshaped in response to computer-memorized data. According to a disclosed method, the rule is reshaped for different sections of the surface. An apparatus for checking and measuring a surface which has a curved profile includes a plurality of piston-cylinder units which are mounted on a main frame.

  • Patent number: 4861189
Abstract: An inclined roadbed is paved by vehicles which are connected by wires to uphill anchor vehicles. A paving vehicle on the inclined surface has a device for projecting a laser beam to a beam-receiving device on its respective anchor vehicle. The height of the wire connection point on the anchor vehicle is changed in response to signals from the beam-receiving device, so as to equalize the forces exerted on the inclined surface by the left and right sides of the paving vehicle. For paving surfaces such as automobile test tracks which have compound curvatures, a pavement laying apparatus has a curved surface formed by a plurality of interconnected screed plates which are each connected to a respective screw jack. A microcomputer stores data representing the desired shape of the pavement at different points along the travel path of the apparatus.
