Patent number: 5900513Abstract: The present invention provide a method for producing 2-cyclohexene-1-ol which comprises using a catalyst containing an inetermetallic compound of palladium and lead and/or bismuth when cyclohexenyl hydroperoxide is subjected to hydrogenolysis to produce 2-cyclohexene-1-ol.If the catalyst of the present invention is employed, it is possible to obtain the desired 2-cyclohexene-1-ol at a high selectivity with a much simpler reaction system than the prior art and, in addition, to inhibit the hydrogenation of coexisting cyclohexene sufficiently.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1998Date of Patent: May 4, 1999Assignee: Asahi Kasei Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroshi Ishida, Mitsuji Ono, Masazumi Chono

Patent number: 5414144Abstract: A novel propylene glycol cyclohexyl ether derivative represented by formula I is disclosed. ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a straight or branched alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 6 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group; and n represents an integer of from 1 to 3.This propylene glycol cyclohexyl ether derivative is not only extremely safe by virtue of its low toxicity and high flash point, but also has excellent detergency, low viscosity, and can impart a high film-forming ability to a resin emulsion. Further, this propylene glycol cyclohexyl ether derivative also has high hydrophobicity (and hence low water-solubility), so that it can minimize the cost and labor for disposal of waste water. Therefore, this propylene glycol cyclohexyl ether derivative is useful in various applications, for example, as a detergent, as a solvent for a wide variety of applications and as a film-forming agent.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1993Date of Patent: May 9, 1995Assignee: Asahi Kasei Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Tomonari Watanabe, Izumi Yamashita, Masazumi Chono, Tetsushi Kouno

Patent number: 4547322Abstract: Manufacture of a diphenylmethane diisocyanate for an N-phenylcarbamate is economically accomplished in high yield with high selectivity by a method which comprises (A) a process of methylenation for the formation of a condensation product containing at lest 80 mol % of a dinuclear diphenylmethane dicarbamate by the steps of (1) causing a methylenating agent to react upon at least 2 moles of an N-phenylcarbamate, based on 1 mole of the methylene group of said methylenating agent, in a liquid phase in the presence of an aqueous inorganic acid solution, (2) separating the resultant reaction mixture into the aqueous inorganic acid solution and an organic phase reaction mixture containing substantially none of said inorganic acid, and (3) subsequently treating said organic phase reaction mixture in the presence of an N-phenylcarbamate and a carboxylic acid having a pKa of not more than 4 in an aqueous solution at a temperature of 25.degree. C.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1984Date of Patent: October 15, 1985Assignee: Asahi Kasei Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shinsuke Fukuoka, Masazumi Chono, Tomonari Watanabe, Masashi Kohno
