  • Patent number: 4157267
Abstract: A process for continuously separating, in liquid phase, fructose from a liquid feed mixture of sugars containing essentially fructose and glucose by contact with a solid sorbent of zeolite. The process utilizes a simulated countercurrent flow system wherein a liquid stream flows through serially and circularly interconnected desorption, rectification and sorption zones each zone being divided into a plurality of sections. In the zones water as desorbent is introduced into the desorption zone, the liquid feed mixture of sugars is introduced into the sorption zone, a desorption effluent is withdrawn from the desorption zone and a raffinate effluent is withdrawn from the sorption zone, and all of the points of introduction and withdrawal of the liquids are simultaneously shifted, one section at a time at predetermined intervals of time, in a downstream direction.

  • Patent number: 4069172
Abstract: An adsorbent for separating para-isomers from C.sub.8 or C.sub.10 aromatic hydrocarbons, specifically, a faujasite zeolite wherein about 2.5 to 25 percent, based on the total exchangeable cation sites originally present within the faujasite zeolite, is decationized and metal ions at the residual cation sites are exchanged substantially with potassium and/or barium ions. The adsorbent is used in separating the para-isomer, which is isolated by desorbing from the adsorbent.

  • Patent number: 3948775
Abstract: A horizontal multiple-chamber, packed column structure for adsorptive separation process wherein loading and unloading of packing material is facilitated, and efficient, effective contact between the packing material and a fluid passing therethrough is provided by the configuration and placement of a fluid inlet and distributor at one end thereof and fluid collector and fluid outlet at the horizontally opposite end, each chamber also including a plurality of axially extending rods to maintain a relatively uniform packing density of packing material in the chamber.
