  • Publication number: 20190224654
Abstract: The invention provides a method of manufacture of a catalyst, the catalyst as such and its use in olefin oligomerisationand. The method for making an oligomerisation catalyst includes the steps of mixing alumina, silica, metal oxide, a template source; and effecting the deactivation of the Bronsted sites by masking them with metal ions, preferably either (i) during synthesis by directly adding the metal as ion in a one-pot or direct synthesis, or (ii) after intermidiate conversion to the H+-form by in turn either (ii-a) impregnating the latter with a metal salt, or (ii-b) thy-mixing a metal salt with it.

  • Publication number: 20190194559
Abstract: The invention provides a process for the production of aviation turbine fuel. The process includes the steps of oligomerizing light olefins derived from a high temperature Fisher-Tropsch process over a zeolite catalyst selected from a ZSM-5 (Zeolyst Int., SiO2/A12O3?30)(COD-9) at pressures of 50 bar with the temperature ranging from 150 to 310° C., distilling from a gasoline fraction of the oligomerisation product, a fraction boiling below 150° C., hydrogenating the distilled oligomerisation fraction over a hydrogenation catalyst, distilling from the hydrogenated hydrocarbon product, fractionating the hydrogenation distillate fraction over a fractionation catalyst and distilling the fractionation hydrocarbon product to produce an aviation turbine fuel (ASH1925) able to meet the requirements as set out for a Synthetic ISO-Paraffinic Kerosene (SPK) as per ASTM D 7566-14a.

  • Publication number: 20100249485
Abstract: This invention relates to processes for removing particles such as catalyst fines from hydrocarbon streams, such as a wax dried from a Fischer Tropsch reaction using centrifugation in combination with a treatment with an aqueous solution preferably containing an acid, or with an acid. According to an aspect of the invention, catalyst particles are removed from a wax derived from a Fischer Tropsch by pre-treating the hydrocarbon stream with an aqueous solution and forming a mixture comprising the hydrocarbon stream and 5-25% v/v organic acid solution; and introducing the mixture to a centrifuge and separating, from the mixture, a hydrocarbon stream, an aqueous solution and particles. The process may be a continuous and/or a batch process.

  • Publication number: 20040152791
Abstract: This invention relates to a new method for producing an iron-based Fischer-Tropsch catalyst composition wherein the main iron phase is ferrihydrite in a precipitation reaction. It has been found that the reduction of Fe(III) species to Fe(II), and thus an increase in the Fe(II)/Fe(III) ratio, prior to precipitation affects the crystallite size of the crystallite particles of the catalyst, and enhances the olefin selectivity of the catalyst. The reduction of the Fe(III) species to Fe(II) can be attained in situ by the addition of a reduction agent (such as oxalic acid or formic acid) during the catalyst preparation method.

  • Publication number: 20040106517
Abstract: This invention relates to an iron-based Fischer-Tropsch cataylst composition wherein the iron phase is ferrihydrite. The catalyst composition optionally includes a structural promoter which may be selected from manganese or chromium or a mixture thereof and chemical promoters selected from magnesium, zinc, copper and an alkaline or alkali metal such as potassium. The catalyst is best bound to a refractory oxide support such as silica. This catalyst composition produces significant yields of higher parafins, olefins and alcohols.
