Abstract: Caps and cap assemblies for lancing devices with adjustable modes of use are disclosed herein. In accordance with some embodiments of the invention, an adjustable cap assembly for a lancing device having a housing is disclosed. The assembly comprises at least one cap comprising a cap body with a skin-engaging end that defines a piercing aperture, an end opposite the skin-engaging end configured to removably engage an end of the housing and a lancet receiver within the cap body and configured to receive a lancet. The at least one cap is configured to adjust a penetration depth of the lancet with axial movement of the cap relative to the housing and to adjust an effective size of the piercing aperture with the lancet receiver.

Abstract: A lancing device is provided for use with a removable lancet. The lancing device includes a housing and a lancet carrier slidably disposed within the housing and adapted to receive the lancet. A user-actuated ejection slide is mounted to the housing to eject the lancet from the lancet carrier. A locking member is pivotally mounted to the housing. As the ejection slide moves forward, it rotates the locking member to block forward movement of the lancet carrier during ejection. The locking member is configured so that substantially all of the force exerted on it by the lancet carrier is transmitted to the housing via the pivotal mounting.

Abstract: Lancing devices are provided for use with a lancet. The lancing device includes a housing and a carriage assembly slidably disposed within the housing. A depth adjustment mechanism is coupled to the carriage to move the carriage and lancet carrier forward and backward in response to user movement of the depth adjustment mechanism.

Abstract: Lancing devices for use with removable lancets having sharp tips are provided. Embodiments include an interlock within the housing that blocks insertion of the lancet when the device is already cocked.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for finding and identifying objects in a nighttime sky which includes templates which may represent the form of constellations and a means of holding said templates positioned to orient and identify the names of celestial bodies while looking at them. The present device is viewed simultaneously and directly in line with the stars, thus if two or three stars of the constellation are lined up, all of the stars will be lined up, including those stars too dim to be seen with the naked eye in the given light conditions. To compensate for the dome of the sky, only one area of the sky will be viewed at a time. Additionally, the present device allows the observer to see the lines connecting the stars to make up a given constellation, asterism, or other such grouping at the same time as the stars.

The body is provided at a second end with a flange for connecting to the ring connector. A compressive gasket is affixed to a surface of the flange which faces the ring connector. At least one clamp assembly, affixed to the body, has a handle and a clamp pivotably mounted in a housing. The handle and clamp are pivoted about separate pivot points, so that a cam action is obtained as the handle is moved from an open to a closed position. The clamp of each clamp assembly passes through a slot-like opening in the flange to allow engagement of the clamp in the connector.
