Publication number: 20240095815Abstract: A modeling system determines a physical location of a device in a store and a virtual location in a virtual model of a store that corresponds to the physical location. The modeling system determines, from the virtual model, a subset of model data based on the virtual location. The model data comprises store location data applicable to the entire store, shelf data applicable to shelves in the store, and planogram data applicable to the shelves and products associated with the shelves. The subset of model data comprises the store location data, a subset of the shelf data applicable to at least a shelf within a predefined distance of the physical location of the device, and a subset of the planogram data applicable to at least the shelf and a product associated with the shelf. The modeling system generates a presentation of a scene based on the subset of model data.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 16, 2022Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Mason E. Publication number: 20240048548Abstract: Techniques described herein are directed toward enabling a transfer of access rights for an electronic device between users. In embodiments a transferee device may receive a first request to obtain access rights for an electronic device associated with a transferor device. The transferor device may receive a second request to grant access rights for the electronic device. Embodiments may include receiving, at the transferee device, a device key associated with the electronic device and storing the device key in association with the electronic device. Embodiments may further include issuing a command from at least one of the transferee or transferor devices to unlock the electronic device, and causing the electronic device to comply with the command to unlock if the at least one of the transferee or transferor devices that issues the command has access to the device key when the command is issued.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2023Publication date: February 8, 2024Inventors: Mason E. Sheffield, Jonothon Frederick Douglas, Paul Michael Sisneros, Joseph Ygona Laurino

Patent number: 11831636Abstract: Techniques described herein are directed to a system and methods for enabling a transfer of access rights for an electronic device between users. In embodiments of the system, a first user (e.g., a transferor) may, upon determining that access rights should be granted to a second user (e.g., a transferee), generate a transaction record. The transaction record may then be provided to a registry network, which may verify a digital signature of the transaction record as well as a current ownership status. Upon verification, the transaction record may be written to an ownership registry and a mobile application server may be notified of the transaction. Once notified, the mobile application server may transmit a device key to a user device associated with the transferee. Once the device key has been received at the transferee user device, it may be used to issue commands to the electronic device.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2022Date of Patent: November 28, 2023Assignee: Lowe's Companies, Inc.Inventors: Mason E. Publication number: 20230230375Abstract: Described herein are a system and methods for generating a record of objects, as well as respective positions for those objects, with respect to a user. In some embodiments, a user may use a user device to scan an area that includes one or more objects. The one or more objects may be identified from image information obtained from the user device. Positional information for each of the one or more objects may be determined from depth information obtained from a depth sensor installed upon the user device. In some embodiments, the one or more objects may be mapped to object models stored in an object model database. The image information displayed on the user device may be augmented so that it depicts the object models associated with the one or more objects instead of the actual objects.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 20, 2023Publication date: July 20, 2023Inventors: Mason E. Sheffield, Josh Shabtai

Publication number: 20230154027Abstract: Described herein are a system and methods for efficiently using depth and image information for a space to generate a 3D representation of that space. In some embodiments, an indication of one or more points is received with respect to image information, which is then mapped to corresponding points within depth information. A boundary may then be calculated to be associated with each of the points based on the depth information at, and surrounding, each point. Each of the boundaries are extended outward until junctions are identified as bounding the boundaries in a direction. The system may determine whether the process is complete or not based on whether any of the calculated boundaries are currently unlimited in extent in any direction. Once the system determines that each of the boundaries is limited in extent, a 3D representation of the space may be generated based on the identified junctions and/or boundaries.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 13, 2023Publication date: May 18, 2023Inventor: Mason E. Patent number: 10657712Abstract: Described herein are a system and techniques for performing partially or fully automatic retopology of an object model. In some embodiments, the techniques may involve categorizing and/or segmenting an object model into a number of regions. 3D data in each region may then be compared to 3D data in corresponding regions for a number of similar object models in order to identify a closest matching corresponding region. The techniques may also involve identifying a set of edges stored in relation to each closest matching corresponding region for each region of an object model. Each set of edges may be conformed to the 3D data of its corresponding region. Once conformed, the sets of edges may be compiled into a cage for the object model, from which a mesh may be generated.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2018Date of Patent: May 19, 2020Assignee: LOWE'S COMPANIES, INC.Inventors: Mason E.
