Patent number: 10286862Abstract: A charging integration system for a vehicle. The charging integration system includes a seat structure, a charging system carrier and a charging station structure. The charging system carrier is pivotably connected to the seat structure. The charging station structure is movably connected to the charging system carrier. The charging integration system allows one or more devices to be charged wirelessly or by a physical connector that connects the one or more devices to the charging station structure.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2014Date of Patent: May 14, 2019Assignee: Adient Luxembourg Holding S.à.r.l.Inventors: Mason Pike, Ken Clark, James Hollowood, Jeff Laho, Mark Milner

Publication number: 20190077330Abstract: A vehicle seat includes a backrest and a seat base as a seat part. The seat part includes a seat part frame, a trim side and an opposite harder side. The harder side has an outer peripheral surface with a recess contour. Fittings form a seat base to backrest pivot connection, for pivoting the seat base relative to the backrest and/or pivoting the backrest relative to the seat base. Pivotable hoop connections are connected to the vehicle seat frame adjacent to the opposite harder side. A storage hoop has hoop ends respectively connected to the respective pivotable hoop connections. The storage hoop is received in the recess in a stowed position, in which the hoop is disposed inwardly of a remainder of the outer peripheral surface. The stowed hoop may pivot out of the recess to a hoop deployed position, with the hoop extending outwardly from the opposite harder side.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2018Publication date: March 14, 2019Inventors: Eric MICHALAK, Brent BURTON, Mason PIKE, Nathan CARUSS, Alex SAVESKI, Michael J. Patent number: 10144315Abstract: A vehicle seat includes a backrest and a seat base with a fitting with pivot connections for pivoting relative to the backrest. The seat base pivots between a seating position and a stadium flipped up position. A storage hoop has ends pivotably connected to an underside of the seat base at hoop pivot connections. The storage hoop pivots between a stowed position—with the hoop extending along a seat underside—and a hoop deployed position—with the hoop extending outwardly from the seat underside. The fitting with pivot connection has an inertial load lock to maintain the seat base in the stadium flipped up position upon exposure to inertial loads above a crash threshold. A cable is moved upon moving the hoop to the deployed position to move a latching cam, associated with the fitting, to prevent the seat base from pivoting.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2016Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: ADIENT LUXEMBOURG HOLDING S.A.R.L.Inventors: Eric Michalak, Brent Burton, Mason Pike, Nathan Caruss

Patent number: 10086728Abstract: An adjustable vehicle seat configured to support an occupant in a vehicle may include a seat cushion portion, a seat back portion including a backrest movable relative to the seat cushion portion, and a contour linkage linked to the seat cushion portion and the backrest. The contour linkage may be configured to impose force on the backrest upon movement of the seat cushion portion relative to the backrest in at least one of a fore/aft, vertical, and rotational direction. The backrest may be configured such that a backrest contour is altered based on force imposed by the contour linkage in response to movement of the seat cushion portion relative to the backrest. The backrest contour may include at least one of a contour angle of an occupant-side surface of the backrest, a maximum offset of the occupant-side surface, and vertical height of a contour apex.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2014Date of Patent: October 2, 2018Assignee: ADIENT LUXEMBOURG HOLDING S.A.R.L.Inventors: Brennon White, Mason Pike, Ken Clark, Nathan Caruss, E J Zadina, Jeff Laho, James Hollowood, Nicholas Petouhoff, Patricia White, Dan Ridgeway, Eric Michalak, Alex Saveski, Jennifer Carlson, Brad Feiler, Mark Milner, Dalibor Dimovski

Publication number: 20170158088Abstract: A seat with an adjusting mechanism for selectively changing a contour and firmness of the seat. A force/pressure sensor is arranged between the contour of the seat which is in contact with the occupant, and the adjusting mechanism. The force/pressure sensor measures the actual force/pressure with which the occupant presses upon the seat, and which force/pressure is adjustable by the respective adjusting mechanism. A control unit stores a desired force/pressure value for the seat, and controls the adjusting mechanism to drive the actual force/pressure towards the desired force/pressure. The seat also has an operator interface which receives input from an operator. The control unit has a manual mode where the adjusting mechanism is only controlled by the operator interface. The control unit in the automatic mode records the actual value from the force/pressure sensor when the operator adjusts the seat through the interface.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2016Publication date: June 8, 2017Inventors: Mason PIKE, Patrick CREAMER

Publication number: 20170015217Abstract: A seat control interface mechanism for a vehicle seat may comprise an interface control surface having at least one interface that allows an occupant of the vehicle seat to activate seat controls; and a movable member upon which the interface control surface is located, the moveable member being configured to be displaced relative to the vehicle seat to cause the interface control surface to become more accessible to the occupant of the vehicle seat. A method of operation to adjust an orientation of the vehicle seat may comprise moving an interface control surface relative to the vehicle seat to cause the interface control surface to become more accessible to an occupant of the vehicle seat; and operating at least one touch-sensitive interface on the interface control surface to activate at least one seat control for the vehicle seat.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2014Publication date: January 19, 2017Applicant: JOHNSON CONTROLS TECHNOLOGY COMPANYInventors: Mason PIKE, Anthony Spadaro, Brennon White

Publication number: 20160297383Abstract: A charging system for charging a device within a vehicle may include a vehicle component, a securing mechanism, and a wireless charging mechanism. The securing mechanism may be configured to physically secure the device within a user's field of view such that the device is usable by the user while the device is being charged. The wireless charging mechanism may be integrated with the vehicle component and configured to charge the device. The securing mechanism may align and orient the device with respect to the charging mechanism.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 18, 2014Publication date: October 13, 2016Applicant: JOHNSON CONTROLS TECHNOLOGY COMPANYInventors: Mason PIKE, Kenneth M.
