  • Patent number: 5988697
Abstract: A cam mechanism couples flat-faced, male and female couplers while minimizing the tendency of a pressurized fluid from exerting a force tending to resist the coupling. Internal valve assemblies within the couplers are maintained closed during the coupling. Once the coupling is complete, a control lever of the cam mechanism is actuated to open both valve assemblies to enable flow of the pressurized fluid.

  • Patent number: 5884897
Abstract: Quick-action male coupling (1) connectable under pressure and having a tubular outer body (2) containing a valve guide (7) supported so as to be central and defining flow channels (FC) for the fluid, and an inner valve (9) which is selectively pushed so as to tend to close the mouth (8) of the outer body (2), wherein a sliding tubular body (20) is present between the outer body (2) and the valve guide (7); the sliding tubular body (20) is pushed by a spring so as to tend to close the flow channels (FC); in the closed position the sliding tubular body (20) is in sealing contact with the outer body (2) and with the valve guide (7) and experiences hydrostatic pressures of equal magnitudes but opposite directions exerted by the fluid; and the sliding tubular body (20) is pushed by the inner valve (9) so as to tend to open the flow channels (FC).

  • Patent number: 5873386
Abstract: A quick-release coupling includes a male part and a female part. The female part has a valve stem attached to an inner tubular body so as to define a number of flow channels, and an outer body that houses a pair of sliders. The female part also has an intermediate sleeve that slides inside the outer body and is attached to the inner tubular body. The outer body has an inner stop shoulder which defines an extended position of the sleeve. A sealing device, movable by the pressure of a fluid present in the female part, is present at the rear between the sleeve and the outer body. The sleeve is stressed from the rear by a pressure spring. The outer body is locked to and released from the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5662141
Abstract: A leak-resistant fluid coupling arrangement includes two coupling assemblies, each having valves for preventing fluid flow in a disconnected state, and for permitting fluid flow in a connected state. The valve in one of the assemblies is mounted within a tubular body having an external stop. A sleeve is mounted exteriorly of the tubular body. A spring bears against the sleeve and the stop to resiliently position a front surface of the tubular body adjacent an end wall of the valve. In the other assembly, the valve is located between a tubular part and a second tubular body, and has a seal that engages an internal shoulder of the second body. Apertures extend through the seal. A spring resiliently positions an end wall of the tubular part adjacent a front region of the second body. In the connected state, the seal is disengaged from the shoulder, and fluid flows through the apertures.

  • Patent number: 5452736
Abstract: A rapid fastener for connecting pipelines for conveying pressurized gas and exhibits a structural part which is provided, at its end, with a recess into which there can be introduced a structural part provided with a projection, and wherein the recessed structural part receives, on the inner side, spring means which act upon series-connected displaceable sleeves and are interconnected by means of a valve body and a valve guide plate, a displaceable sleeve and the valve guide plate being actively connected by a structural part consisting of a metal alloy having a low melting point and receiving, on its outer side, a sleeve which is axially displaceable and constitutes a holding device for the structural part.

  • Patent number: 5316347
Abstract: The quick-fitting coupling (1) has arranged thereon spring-loaded flat-face sealing couplings with interengaging male and female members (2,3) to serve as hydraulic couplings. The female member (2) of each flat-face sealing coupling is provided with an outwardly projecting peripheral flange (14) for precise embedded engagement with a respective peripheral groove on a mounting opening for the female member arranged on the fixed support plate (4), the arrangement being such that the flat end face (17) of the female member (2) comes to lie in a common plane with the coupling side (18) of the support plate (4) and is in abutting relationship therewith. Furthermore, the male members (3) are rigidly fastened to the movable support plate (5) and are projecting therefrom to a point so as to cause the two support plates (4,5), when the flat-face sealing couplings are in the coupled position, to be in abutting engagement with each other.
