  • Patent number: 10010505
Abstract: New liposomes are described, comprising: (i) phosphatidic acid and/or cardiolipin; (ii) apolipoprotein E (ApoE) or derivatives thereof. The so modified liposomes, administered systemically, obtain a dramatic in-vivo reduction of the amyloid plaque in the central nervous system, allowing an effective treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Alzheimer's disease.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 2, 2014
Date of Patent: July 3, 2018
Assignee: UNIVERSITA DEGLI STUDI DI MILANO-BICOCCA
Inventors: Massimo Masserini, Francesca Re, Giulio Sancini, Gianluigi Forloni, Mario Salmona
  • Patent number: 9427405
Abstract: Novel liposomes are described which are capable of effectively binding beta amyloid peptide and are useful for the treatment, prevention and diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. Binding ability is provided by the presence in the formulation of particular natural lipids identified by the Applicant. These comprise a constant component, made up of cholesterol and sphingomyelin, and an additional variable component, made up of selected lipids.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 10, 2009
Date of Patent: August 30, 2016
Assignee: Universita degli Studi de Milano-Bicocca
Inventors: Massimo Masserini, Francesca Re, Maria Silvia Sesana

  • Patent number: 4915128
Abstract: This automatic valve for controlling gas passage through ducts, particularly through feed ducts of two-stroke internal combustion engines, is provided with a chamber (4) arranged to determine the opening and closure of slot-shaped flow ports (2A', 2B') by pressure difference; this takes place by the movement away from and towards contact surfaces of only edges which are perpendicular to the direction of flow, using dihedron-shaped flaps of which those edges parallel to the flow graze end walls provided parallel to them to prevent transverse flow seepage. The prevention of such transverse flow seepage is favored by inserting the dihedron-shaped flaps into containing seats which support the sides at said edges parallel to the flow, and which also limit transverse deformation by the pressure on the inside of the dihedron which determines valve closure.
