  • Patent number: 6089535
Abstract: The throttle valve control device of this invention controls a throttle based on outputs of a position sensor including a first sensor and a second sensor which detect a position of a same object, wherein the output of the first sensor and the output of the second sensor change opposite to each other depending on a change in the position of the object, and the throttle valve control device determines the position sensor abnormal when a variation in the output of the first sensor is equal to or greater than a first threshold value and a variation in the output of the second sensor is equal to or greater than a second threshold value.

  • Patent number: 4877101
Abstract: A constant-speed control device for a vehicle including a fuel cut device and a suspending device which suspends a fuel cut operation. An actuator is provided for controlling a throttle valve so that the vehicle runs at a constant speed. The fuel cut device carries out a fuel cut when the degree of opening of the throttle valve is smaller than a predetermined value. The suspending device suspends operation of the fuel cut device until the vehicle speed becomes higher than a target value by a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4870583
Abstract: A constant speed cruise control system of duty ratio control type for approximating an actual car speed to a stored target car speed, by on/off control of a control valve of an actuator to adjust the throttle valve opening degree by an output duty ratio D obtained from a control line having a gradient showing a conversion characteristic of car speed and duty ratio. The system has a controller in whicha set duty ratio DS corresponding to the target car speed is calculated asSD=SD1+(DM-SD1)/nand the output duty ratio D is calculated asD=G.times.V+SDwhereG: gradient of control lineV: car speed deviationDM: integrating element responding quickly to duty ratio changeSD1: integrating element responding slowly to duty ratio changen: coefficientand the controller corrects to integrate the set duty ratio SD in a direction of approximating the output duty ratio D.

  • Patent number: 4862367
Abstract: An automatic speed control apparatus for controlling the running speed of a vehicle at a constant set speed includes an auxiliary intake passage providing direct communication between portions of a main intake passage upstream and downstream from a throttle valve so as to bypass the throttle valve, an auxiliary intake air valve adapted for controlling the flow rate of air in the auxiliary intake passage, and a fuel supply cut-off means for suspending the supply of fuel to the engine from a moment at which a fuel supply cut-off condition is met, which requires the throttle valve to be set at the minimum opening position and the engine speed to be higher than a predetermined fuel supply cut-off engine speed, until the moment at which a predetermined fuel supply recovery condition is met. An actuator for actuating the throttle valve is controlled so as to vary the degree of opening degree of the throttle valve and enable the vehicle to run at the constant set speed.

  • Patent number: 4814991
Abstract: A cruise control system for a vehicle having an internal combustion engine provided with a throttle valve operated by a diaphragm actuator irrespective of a depression of an accelerator pedal by an operator of the vehicle. The system is provided with a system for controlling a vehicle speed in a so-called "dead zone" where hunting usually occurs if a normal feedback control is executed. A time-interval integrating unit is provided for integrating the deviation of the acutal speed with respect to the target speed with a time interval as well as a weight factor, so that the integrated value corresponds to the change in the deviation in the dead zone. The integrated value is compared with a predetermined value corresponding to a change in the vehicle speed which is obtainable when the least significant bit in the control signal output to the actuator is changed.

  • Patent number: 4803637
Abstract: A cruise control system for a vehicle having an internal combustion engine is provided with a throttle valve operated by a diaphragm actuator irrespective of a depression of an accelerator pedal by an operator of the vehicle. The system is provided with a control circuit for controlling an electric signal applied to the actuator. A fixed level signal is first applied to the actuator for a short period after a cruise mode operation has commenced, so that the diaphragm is quickly moved to prevent a temporary decrease in the vehicle speed. After the elapse of the predetermined time, the level of the electric signal is controlled by feedback so that the vehicle speed is controlled to a target speed. A feedback gain initially has a first value for a period after the feedback control is commenced and then has a second value which is smaller than the first value.
