    Abstract: A starter for an alcohol engine, which incorporates a reformer containing catalyst heated by exhaust gas to thereby react fuel alcohol so as to produce reformed gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide as main components and to store the produced gas in the reformer. The reformed gas is supplied to a carburetor of the engine at its starting time to mix it with the main fuel alcohol to supply the mixture to a combustion chamber so as to facilitate easy ignition.

    Abstract: Herein disclosed is an improved cold-start boosting device of an automotive engine, which comprises a heat pipe having a heat absorbing end exposed to the vehicle cabin and a heat emitting end exposed to the interior of a passage through which air flows before entering the engine proper, and a portable electric regenerator which is detachably connectable to the heat absorbing end of the heat pipe.
