    Abstract: A method is disclosed for managing power at an unmanned remote cell site having at least one battery and at least one generator. The method includes the steps of determining whether there is a commercial power outage at the remote cell site and determining whether site temperature at the remote cell site and battery charge of the at least one battery at the remote cell site meet predetermined limits for battery discharging. Discharge of the at least one battery is automatically initiated to power the remote cell site if there is a commercial power outage and the site temperature and the battery charge both meet the predetermined limits for battery discharging. Operation of the at least one generator is automatically initiated to power the remote cell site if there is a commercial power outage and the site temperature and the battery charge do not both meet predetermined limits for battery discharging.
