  • Patent number: 5286014
Abstract: A slipper bushing is described as being comprised of a number of succeedingly larger cylindrical sleeves, beginning with a rigid, inner sleeve, followed by a polymeric sleeve, then a resilient elastomeric sleeve, and finally, a rigid, outer sleeve. The inner cylindrical surface of the elastomeric sleeve abutting the outer cylindrical surface of the polymeric sleeve, is provided with a number of circumferentially oriented grooves. A lubricant is placed between the interfaces of the polymeric and elastomeric sleeves and moves into and out of the grooves, as the bushing operates. End caps are used at the flange and barrel ends of the slipper bushing to cover the sleeves and seal the interfaces between them from contaminants.

  • Patent number: 5139244
Abstract: A slipper bushing assembly includes a rigid, inner cylindrical member, a hollow, concentric cylindrical elastomeric member having flanged ends force-fitted to the inner member and in sliding contact with the lubricated inner surface of concentric rigid polymeric outer member having recessed end portions to receive the flanged ends of the elastomeric member. The assembly is provided at each end with flanged tubular end caps press-fitted to the inner surface of the inner member to effect a seal of the lubricated interface.
