    Abstract: The stiffness of dampers for wheels on the front and rear axles are selectively controlled with a control unit. The control unit is configured to detect if the vehicle travels in a curve. In the case of a tendency of the vehicle to understeer, the control unit adjusts the damper of the wheel of the front axle located on the curve outside harder than the damper of the wheel of the front axle located on the curve inside. In the case of a tendency of the vehicle to oversteer, the control unit adjusts the damper of the wheel of the front axle located on the curve inside harder than the damper of the wheel of the front axle located on the curve outside.

The chassis is not shifted from the first mode into the second mode for at least axle, or is changed from the second mode into the first mode of the chassis if a limit load is exceeded.
