  • Patent number: 6536415
Abstract: A method and a device are described for diagnosing a fuel system having a plurality of electric fuel delivery units, which are submerged on the inlet side in a fuel supply contained in a fuel tank, and which, on the outlet side, deliver fuel in a fuel line to an internal combustion engine. The currents of the electric fuel delivery units are measured directly or indirectly in an analysis unit, compared to one another, and a diagnostic signal in digitized form is generated as a function of the result of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 5980200
Abstract: A peripheral pump for feeding fuel from a supply tank to the internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, in which, in a pump chamber (17) embodied by at least two adjacent walls (18, 19), a revolving circular-cylindrical impeller (12) is disposed, on whose face end in an intake-side wall (18) and an outlet-side wall (19) of a medium a feed conduit (41, 42) is provided, which communicate with one another at an angle (.beta.) via a radially disposed connecting conduit (49, 51) in the wall (18, 19) having a pressure region (34, 35) cooperating with the impeller (12), and these pressure regions (34, 35) can be acted upon by the pressure building up increasingly in the feed conduit (41, 42), thus bringing about an equalization of axial force with respect to the impeller (12) at the walls (18, 19) of the pump chamber (17).

  • Patent number: 5486087
Abstract: A unit for delivering fuel from a supply tank to an internal combustion engine, having a disklike impeller driven to revolve in a pump chamber, on whose circumference a number of blades are disposed, and having at least one supply conduit, disposed in the region of the impeller blades and open toward the impeller, in a chamber wall defining the pump chamber on the face end and axially adjoining the impeller, which supply conduit extends via a split ring around the pivot axis of the impeller from an inlet opening into the pump chamber to an outlet opening from it. In order to assure that sufficient fuel can be aspirated unthrottled in the presence of gas bubbles in the fuel, in particular when the fuel is hot, the supply conduit is embodied in the region of the inlet opening as larger by a factor of 2 than the usual supply conduit cross section; the cross section of the supply conduit then decreases continuously, beginning at the inlet end, forming a compression conduit.

  • Patent number: 5424636
Abstract: In a process and a device for measuring the rate of rotation of a rotating part which is completely enclosed by a housing, the current signal which is generated by the rotating part is subjected to two Fourier transforms after corresponding signal processing in digital form. The rate of rotation is determined from the spectrum obtained after the second Fourier transform. The rate of rotation is determined from the time pertaining to the maximum of the spectrum which is directly proportional to the rate of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4923365
Abstract: An impeller wheel for feeding a medium, for example fuel, includes a plurality of vanes spaced from each other at non-uniform intervals along the periphery of the impeller wheel. To reduce tonal noise to a minimum during the feeding of the medium the vanes are distributed in accordance with the mathematical interrelations of a pseudonoise sequence.
