    Abstract: A device for applying an electromagnetic field to a biological feedstock sample is disclosed. The device includes a coaxial electrical structure including a center conductor and a ground conductor which surrounds the center conductor, a load including a resistor and the biological feedstock sample being positioned between one end of the center conductor and a conductive wall which extends the ground conductor into a plane substantially perpendicular to the axis of the center conductor, the resistor having a first end connected to the center conductor and a second end connected to the conductive wall, the resistor defining an internal volume wherein the biological feedstock sample is placed.
